Creating animated 3D content requires in-depth know-how and experience. To go from idea to finished product usually means involving an animation studio at some point. This week’s #WebsiteWednesday has worked with international brands, created feature films, and won awards like the SWR Audience Award at the 2017 Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS). The next time you need a digital animation project done right, check LUMATIC.xyz.
Located in Berlin and run by a team of award winning filmmakers, 3D artists, and animators, LUMATIC.xyz has been turning clients’ ideas into gorgeous moving images in a variety of art styles since 2008. LUMATIC.xyz also produced the opening credits for the feature film Feuchtgebiete (Wetlands) (2013).
“With our website, LUMATIC.xyz, we wanted to give our company an online representation which focuses entirely on our work. .XYZ domains are versatile commodities, capable of being used in all manner of ways. They are the obvious choice for a website, whether it’s your first, or fortieth domain. But there’s more to a URL than a simple web address. Check out some use cases below to see just how useful a .xyz domain can be.

Holtti.xyz is the central source for all things related to Alexander Holtti, the social media superstar. Holtti is most well known for his videos on the platform Vine, which attracted more than 3.5 million followers. Now, you can catch him performing for his 460,000 YouTube subscribers and 390,000 Instagram followers. And if you want to be like Alexander Holtti, you too can get a .xyz domain to use for not just your website, but for your personal email address too.
It’s pretty common for individuals to register either their FirstName.xyz, FirstNameLastName.xyz, or LastName.xyz for their personal websites and portfolios. Our favorite is LastName.xyz, because that allows you to create a cool FirstName@LastName.xyz email address, like Alex@Holtti.xyz. Best of all, you can then create personalized email addresses for your whole family (tip: these make for great stocking stuffers around the holidays)!
Our final non-traditional domain use case comes from Mastodon.xyz, a decentralized conversation platform that lets people start their own discussions on their own terms, giving users an unprecedented level of control. If you take a look at Mastodon.xyz, you’ll see that they use .xyz domains for many of their most popular instances!
Instances are core building blocks for Mastodon, allowing the network to stay decentralized and diverse. Mastodon uses .xyz domains as unique server access points so that other people, who wish to create a chat, can use the domain as an address without having to operate all the back-end technology themselves. This means Mastodon.xyz is capable of staying online longer and being accessed easily by people all around the world, giving the network a leg up in areas with limited Internet access or tight policing. Best of all, this unique use of .xyz domains can be copied and employed by anyone who wants to create their own instance!

Storefronts in high-traffic areas compete for customers constantly. What if there was a way to incentivize customer engagement in exchange for a simple commodity and basic information? What if the same platform could be employed to help spread free public Wi-Fi over remote locations? For this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, meet an innovative Wi-Fi management solution for retailers that’s been featured in TechInAsia, Dawn, and Lonely Planet, and tasked by the French Polynesian Government – Wifigen.xyz.
Wifigen.xyz is a Pakistani startup that helps businesses build stronger relationships with their customers by providing free Wi-Fi in exchange for the permission to collect important information on their clients. After an undisclosed amount of funding from a Silicon Valley based investor that valued the company at $1 million, the initial product rollout took place in New Zealand, with future expansion slated for Australia and their native Pakistan. With their .xyz domain, Wifigen.xyz has no problem expanding their rollout worldwide.
Companies using the Wifigen.xyz platform offer their customers free Wi-Fi as long as they log in with social profiles like Facebook and Twitter. This gives the company access to useful, non-invasive metrics like demographics, visiting frequency, and spending habits, as well as personalized profiles enhancing the customer relationship management process; visitors get free internet access and potential discounts. The French Polynesian government hopes this system and a new infrastructure overhaul will allow anyone to access the web from any of the hundreds of islands that make up the archipelago and revive tourism.
This unique Wi-Fi solution has generated interest from Silicon Valley boardrooms to the New Zealand coasts. Wifigen.xyz’s success has even led the island nation of French Polynesia to reach out for innovative solutions to the small but mountainous country’s internet issues. For an entire country to trust a tech startup must mean their technology is the real deal and will soon make its presence known in America too.
To stay on top of Wifigen.xyz’s expansion, make sure to connect with them through their XYZ branded social media on Facebook (/Wifigenxyz) or Twitter (@wifigen_xyz). For more .xyz users, follow XYZ on Instagram.

What happens when an obsession with the unknown turns dangerous? Writers Victor Mathieu and Corbin Billings sought to find out in their new feature film: The Monster Project. Set in an abandoned mansion and filled with iconic monsters, the movie explores the human side of them, as well as their sinister origins. But it doesn’t reveal everything. For the full picture, you’ll need to check out this week’s #WebsiteWednesday – Mindgggames.xyz.
Mindgggames.xyz is the augmented reality game prequel paired with The Monster Project feature film. The film has been generating significant buzz, getting written about in horror-specific publications like Blumhouse and Horrorpedia, as well as major publications like Entertainment Weekly. Mindgggames.xyz has also been getting press in Dread Central, as horror enthusiasts across the internet search for clues about this future found-footage classic.
While The Monster Project movie focuses on its human subjects and the monsters they’re researching (and running from), Mindgggames.xyz sets up the film with a labyrinth of clues to get fans of the horror genre excited and engaged. Whether it’s messages hidden in audio files, or notes written on the characters’ bodies, Mindgggames.xyz presents a suspenseful interactive experience that enhances the film, and could only have been done on a .xyz domain.
“I think everybody is familiar with .com, but there’s something cryptic about .xyz. What does that mean? I thought that from that aspect it was intriguing to almost be a lure, another part of the mystery. Where is this being hosted? How is the game existing? And for me that was another part of the puzzle.” – Corbin Billings – Writer, Producer for The Monster Project, Game Developer for Mindgggames.xyz
XYZ didn’t just make sense for Mindgggames.xyz, it was also a natural choice for the creative pair as well. Fans of horror movies from the time they were children, The Monster Project is a direct result of the pair’s love for properties like Goosebumps books and Cloverfield (2008). Choosing .xyz for Mindgggames.xyz let the pair directly tap into their influences.
“I think that .xyz is new, it’s growing, it’s cool, and it’s definitely targeting that millennial generation – you know, bringing together generations x, y, and z. So it’s really neat for us to be millennial filmmakers, independent filmmakers, allied with an up and comer. Just look at abc.xyz and you’ll see where XYZ is going.” – Corbin Billings- Writer, Producer for The Monster Project, Game Developer for Mindgggames.xyz & Victor Mathieu – Director, Writer, and Producer for The Monster Project
The Monster Project will be distributed by Epic Pictures and released in theatres across Los Angeles and Video on Demand services on August 18th. Mindgggames.xyz is up and running right now. Follow XYZ on Instagram for live-streams, stories, and more awesome content .xyz users.
