As spring turns to summer and the itch to get outdoors increases, we find ourselves looking for that next adventure and experience to fill us up with hope, life and fun. Luckily our #WebsiteWednesday provides an opportunity to explore and see the world anew: BrakeTheCycle.xyz.
If you were to go from “End to End,” as the Brits call it, you would be traveling from the most southern tip of the UK, called Land’s End, to John O’ Groats, the most northern tip of Scotland. The distance is not for the faint of heart: it’s some 1,000 miles. BrakeTheCycle.xyz aims to take you on this very adventure – on your bike – whilst empowering, inspiring, educating and giving you an experience you will not soon forget.
This trip is more than just a bike tour of the UK countryside. You will be challenged physically, emotionally, and relationally. There will be trainings on permaculture, entrepreneurship, holistic and healthier living, and personal development.
Anytime we are working towards a particular goal, we will oftentimes push ourselves harder than we thought possible, in hopes of making ourselves better. This is what Brake The Cycle hopes to accomplish through the camaraderie, community, and the challenges each rider faces on his or her metal steed: to take the experiences you have lived and apply them to the broader story of your life.
Does this sound like a challenge you’d like to accept? Good news! End to End 2016 starts on July 28th – just soon enough to begin planning, but just far enough away to start training. The whole trip lasts 18 days and covers roughly 55 miles per day.
So what are you waiting for? Dust off your bike, stretch those legs, and open wide your heart! The smell of mossy green lands, the wind whistling by as you cruise along with comrades, and the great open UK sky awaits you.
