We are very excited to announce that XYZ has officially expanded into China! In case you didn’t hear, Mason Zhang, our newly-hired Director of Business Development in China, will be taking the lead on all things .xyz in Asia. That includes getting .xyz accredited, launching new marketing campaigns, and growing the Beijing XYZ Technology Co. LTD team.
“With .xyz expected to be accredited in China very soon, I wanted to play an integral role in the company’s growth in China,” said Zhang. “I am extremely excited to be Beijing XYZ’s first employee, and I look forward to expanding our operations in China in 2017.”
With our WFOE formed, our Chinese business license obtained, and our office in Beijing now open, we’ve really made a lot of progress in China this year. Not to mention, XYZ is the only foreign registry operator to pass technical testing and receive ICANN’s approval to operate in China!
Are you getting excited yet? Great, because we’ve got some more good news to share! We have once again partnered with Chengdu West to auction off over 100 LLL.xyz and NNNN.xyz domains for NO RESERVE. This auction starts in a few hours, so be sure to visit www.W263.xyz to bid on these highly desirable domains!

One of the best parts about what we do is the traveling. The XYZ Team has been spotted all over the world, including Austin for SXSW, Helsinki for ICANN 56, and even China for meetings with our valued partners. Although we love being able to explore different countries and cities, planning trips is a tricky business. Choosing between hundreds of activities, coordinating flights, finding accommodations, and even deciding where to eat can quickly become stressful. Luckily, you can skip the hassle when planning your ideal trip with this week’s #WebsiteWednesday: Fungogo.xyz.
Fungogo takes the stress out of planning by providing travelers with tools to customize their trip, change plans on the go, and share their experiences with others. Their trip planner helps create custom itineraries based on popular destinations and users’ travel preferences. Fungogo also offers an app for both Android and iPhone, so unexpected changes don’t get in the way of having a great trip.
Of course, the best part about travelling is meeting new people. Fungogo’s social feature, called the FunBox, allows users to share their experiences and connect with other Fungogo travelers if they want to meet up and enjoy their trips together.
As Fungogo CEO Muriel Kuan explains, the current lack of travel services that help users easily plan and share their experiences is what inspired her to create Fungogo.
“A vacation has so many things to plan and do at the beginning and end, and there isn’t a complete tool that allows anyone to accomplish all of these things. ‘Why don’t I use my own technical background to help solves these problems?’ I asked myself, and this idea gradually transformed into the one-stop travel community platform, Fungogo. We wanted to create Fungogo to be the Google AND Facebook of the travel industry!
… We are creating a new ‘Sharing’ travel economy for the next century. Therefore, we have chosen an extension that is representative of the next generation of Internet domain names: .xyz.”
By satisfying jetsetters everywhere with an innovative trip planning platform, Fungogo is the perfect example of how #GenXYZ is disrupting their industries every day. If you’re like us and have caught the travel bug, don’t take another trip without using Fungogo.xyz!
June been a month “2” remember. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors both made their 2nd trip to the big dance in 2 years, we’re ramping up for our 2nd ICANN conference in 2 months, and .xyz celebrated its 2nd anniversary just over 2 weeks ago.
In last week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we featured some of the many artistic and talented individuals using .xyz. Since this month is all about “2” for .xyz – and we had too many great sites to choose from (no pun intended) – we decided to keep this theme up for the 2nd week in a row. Take a look at round 2 of our inspiring #GenXYZ artists:
Peter Cochrane utilizes various art forms from photography to installations to express his unique vision. He also uses his .xyz space as a hub for a variety of other art forms and projects. Check out what he said about choosing .xyz for his website:
“As for why I chose .xyz . . . the age of .com, .net, and .org has come and gone. It’s net 1.0. Despite the popularity of those suffixes, it took me a few years to get my act together and make a website because I didn’t feel aligned with their meanings: I’m absolutely not a company, I’m not creating a network of people, and I have no kind of an organization. It’s just me! They might not carry that kind of weight for everyone, but I’m a child of the Internet and have too many strong associations with the early .com world. The only bummer is I have so much more work to put up on the site, since I dragged my feet for so long trying to hash out my dislike of popular domains! As for .xyz, it felt like a good non-sequitur; the funky end of the alphabet. They’re strange letters that are in only a few words, yet everyone can remember them. It’s like bodysurfing and kicking sand at your big brother instead of going on a lousy cruise.” -Peter Cochrane, Artist and Creator of PeterCochrane.xyz
Austria I GoDaddy
At Resl.xyz, you will find the artwork of a well-established artist and designer in Vienna who is using his .xyz to display a lifetime of accomplished work. His work is mesmerizing, contemporary, industrial, and intriguing. Here’s what Moritz Resl had to say about getting his LastName.xyz:
“As an artist and designer working on a broad range of projects I chose a domain that would reflect openness while being easy to remember. Resl.xyz
expresses all of that! The domain is the perfect match for me since it is short, good-looking and generic enough to allow various content: it is my creative hub.” – Moritz Resl, Creator of Resl.xyz
On June 2, 2014, .xyz launched as the new go-to domain ending for the next generation of internet users, and we haven’t looked back since.
2 years later, internet users in over 220 countries have adopted .xyz domains for their blogs, portfolios, businesses, apps, and other creative purposes. This online community is called Generation XYZ, or #GenXYZ for short. So who has joined the XYZ movement so far? We’re glad you asked!
What brand is more powerful than your own name? Take a page from Allison’s site, AllisonLaw.xyz, and register YourName.xyz. Use it to blog about your travels, post photos of the different restaurants you’re trying, or publish your work experience to get that dream job.
How many times have you heard someone say they have a game-changing app but they can’t get the domain or social media handles they need to go with it? Thanks to .xyz, that’s no longer an issue. Just look at THRONE, one of the most popular sneaker marketplaces in the App Store – they keep their 300,000+ community members up to date using Throne.xyz as their website, and “THRONExyz” as their handles to keep create brand uniformity across social media platforms.
What do you do when you’re already a market leader? Innovate to stay on top. That’s exactly what Deloitte has done with their new microsite, Exponentials.xyz, which curates emerging technologies to educate and inspire leaders in other industries. It just goes to show how businesses can complement their existing online presence with .xyz.
Want to spruce up your brand? There’s a .xyz domain for that! Take Paysavvy.com, who rebranded to Rise.xyz in February after acquiring the domain in the aftermarket. Sometimes, your business pivots or a change of scenery is needed to move your brand forward. And when you start looking towards the future, there’s only one domain for every website, everywhere® – and that’s .xyz.
Join us in celebrating .xyz’s 2 Year Anniversary by registering YOUR .xyz domains for just 2¢ (including ICANN fee!) today and tomorrow only! Not sure where to start? Check out a list of available common family names, dictionary words, and city names here, then checkout at any of our participating registrars before someone else does.

第三，ICANN, 简单说就是一个域名管理和运营组织, 必须先通过合同变化，允许在中国注册技术方案。
To all of our Chinese followers: Big news! We would like to announce we have taken MAJOR steps toward accreditation in China, which is on track for this year. This has been a long process, and we have crossed three of the five hurdles needed for full accreditation in China.
First, a brief overview of the accreditation process (we promise it won’t bore you):
Step 1. The registry must form a Chinese business entity to operate in China.
Step 2. The Chinese business must obtain a Chinese business license.
Step 3. ICANN, the governing body over naming on the internet, must approve the contractual changes to allow registry’s technical solution in China.
Step 4. ICANN then must successfully test the registry’s technical solution in China.
Step 5. Lastly, the registry must apply (through its Chinese business entity) for accreditation through the Chinese Government.
Whew, end of technical talk!
We are happy to announce that Steps 1 and 2 have been completed! We have fully formed our Chinese business entity and obtained our business license, which means that we will be able to operate as a business in China. This is a major accomplishment and the product of nearly a year of hard work. But our Chinese friends are worth it! Check out our shiny new business license:
We have also checked off Step 3. We have executed an amendment to our Registry Agreement with ICANN to operate our registry services in China. We are the ONLY foreign registry operator to receive this mandatory permission from ICANN. That means we are closer to becoming fully accredited than any other non-Chinese new domain extension using a gateway model to operate in China.
With three of the five steps completed, we are now underway with Step 4. Testing is going as planned and we look forward to becoming accredited in 2016. We expect adoption to skyrocket once we receive approval, so be sure to register your .xyz domains now before someone else does! Click here to see a list of CCCC.xyz and LLLLL.xyz domains available now for standard fees, or bid on over 150 .xyz domains that are being sold for no reserve in our exclusive West.cn auction (visit W263.xyz for English). For more information about the auction, please read our complete announcement here.
Our Chinese partners are also currently offering a special promotion for .xyz domains for a limited time. Act now before someone else snatches up that perfect domain!
Happy Wednesday #GenXYZ! With the excitement of ICANN 55 in Marrakech, World Hosting Days in Germany, and the big plans we have in store for SXSW, we wanted our #WebsiteWednesday this week to be BIG. And what’s bigger than a member of the “Big Four?” That’s right – one of the largest international professional services networks in the world is behind this week’s #WebsiteWednesday: Exponentials.xyz
Brought to you by Deloitte, Exponentials.xyz is a hub for technology trends and news so that leaders can learn about exponential technologies and apply them to the world’s biggest challenges. Their site features content about artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber security, and advanced computing, among other cutting-edge topics. These fast-paced exponential technologies fuel innovation and can have significant impacts on businesses, industries, and even the global population.
How do tech trends make the cut for Exponentials.xyz? Exponentials are innovations that are accelerating faster than the pace of Moore’s law. In other words, these are technologies whose performances double every 12 to 18 months, relative to their cost and size. This kind of advancement has been observed in tech like brain image resolution, drone sensors, and autonomous cars, to name a few. Disruptive organizations such as Airbnb and Uber also take advantage of these kinds of advancements to scale organizational structure to exponentially increase their margins.
To sum it all up, Exponentials.xyz inspires organizations and their leaders to drive innovation with the most cutting-edge technology. Instead of rejecting exponentials or denying their impact, Exponentials.xyz embraces the opportunities they present to reposition and grow within an industry. According to Salim Ismail, coauthor of Exponential Organizations, “either you are the disruptor or you’re the disrupted.” Deloitte is making sure they do their best to be the disruptor with their .xyz website, Exponentials.xyz.
This year has been chock-full of conferences – and we love it! Conferences are a great place to meet industry leaders and learn about the newest developments and insights. Just recently, we were in good ol’ Brew City Milwaukee to rep .College at the annual HighEdWeb conference.
HighEdWeb brings together all types of higher education professionals to explore unique web issues that colleges and universities face. Topics ranged from technology in education all the way to using Snapchat as a marketing tool!
Digital strategy was a hot topic at HighEdWeb. Since a university’s website is typically the first point of contact for prospective students and parents, it wasn’t surprising to learn that 78% of seniors said websites make a difference in how they view a university!
To capture the attention of these students in this digital age, HighEdWeb sessions focused on website redesign strategies, like having a cohesive message across all schools, utilizing video content, and analyzing web traffic. Revamping a school’s website and digital presence is a great way to engage with students, alumni, and the communities around them. Has your school gone through a rebranding recently?
We’re off on a Eurotrip to meet our business partners at the ICANN Conference in Dublin, and will be zipping back to the states for one of the biggest ed tech conferences in the nation. We have some special goodies for this one, so make sure to check back to find out what they are!

It sure has been a busy September, #GenXYZ. At the exact same time as ICANN’s GDD Summit in LA, the #XYZsquad was also in Beantown for INBOUND, the colossal marketing conference where over 10,000 people traveled from around the world to discuss the future of marketing. The keynote lineup with Seth Godin, Brene Brown, and Aziz Ansari, is telling enough of how INBOUND is the place-to-be for any savvy marketers.
So what was Team XYZ doing at INBOUND? With our trusty domain partner in crime, Rebel, the #XYZsquad hit the streets of Boston and the Convention Center to educate INBOUND’rs on the online marketing opportunities with .xyz and new domains. And a success, it was!
Did you miss out on the excitement of INBOUND? Catch a glimpse into the conference and watch the #XYZsquad in action:
Can you guess where they’ll venture to next? The best way to stay in the loop is to sign up for the XYZ newsletter here!
BIG NEWS, #GenXYZ! .College, our second ever domain is now available to register by anyone. After a six month long university-exclusive registration period where some of the most prestigious educational institutes in the US and UK secured their domains, .College is now open for all.
That puts .Rent and .College in both of their Early Access Periods, which is a special 7 day priority registration period where those early adopters and fast actors have the chance to get the domain names they want at a premium price.
Clearly, the new domains space is growing. Celebrating this growth and collaborating on ways to make the internet an even better place, ICANN (the organization behind the entire internet naming system) hosted its inaugural Global Domains Division Summit earlier this month. Everyone from Team XYZ participated in the Summit, including several members of the #XYZsquad!
The Summit brought together the players in new domains to discuss and jointly improve the industry. With so many of our business partners spread across the globe, it was great to have face-to-face time and show them what Silicon Beach is all about.
Following the Summit – in typical XYZ fashion – we hosted a night to remember for all of the attendees to unwind from the productive week. Curious to catch a glimpse of the XYZ Silicon Beach Party? Check it out in our clip here:
Even though we distracted you with awesome party pics and flips, we know you’re still thinking about how you can get Early Access to your .College and .Rent domains. To learn more, visit go.college and register.rent for details.
