Organizations use .xyz domains to support AI-focused platforms. Crypto payment platform AEON.xyz develops payment infrastructure for AI-driven transactions. AI leadership hiring firm Rockrose.xyz works across technology and digital assets. Agentic AI protocol Axone.xyz focuses on workflow coordination and governance. In this week’s #AIMonday, we’ll introduce you to an AI chatbot platform built on Nillion’s infrastructure: nilGPT.xyz.

An AI chatbot designed for sensitive conversations

nilGPT.xyz is the online home of nilGPT, a chatbot platform developed by privacy infrastructure project Nillion. As shared on the project’s blog, nilGPT was created to provide an AI interface designed for situations involving sensitive information. The team describes the tool as an attempt to introduce “true incognito mode for ChatGPT,” where user prompts and responses are intended to remain private. The application is available as a chatbot interface and, according to Nillion, an iOS version has also been released so users can access the service on mobile devices.

The infrastructure behind nilGPT’s AI system

The platform operates using several infrastructure components built within the Nillion network. According to nilGPT.xyz, AI inference runs through nilAI, which processes prompts inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). This hardware-protected environment is designed so that inputs and outputs are not visible to the host system or operators, as shared on the website. Chat history is stored through nilDB, a decentralized storage system that uses Multi-Party Computation (MPC). Conversations are encrypted locally and then split into secret shares stored across multiple nodes operated by different entities. Each node stores only a partial share of the data. As highlighted on the website FAQ, the shares cannot reconstruct the conversation unless they are combined and decrypted with the user’s passphrase. The platform currently uses the gpt-oss-20b and gemma-3-27b-it models for inference, and the project states that user data is not used to train these models.

Inside the technology powering nilGPT

nilGPT is developed by Nillion, which was co-founded by Andrew Yeoh and Miguel de Vega. According to their LinkedIn profiles, Andrew has served as Co-Founder since 2021 and describes Nillion as infrastructure designed to enable private computation using cryptographic technologies. Miguel de Vega, Ph.D., serves as Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer. His background includes work in cryptographic systems such as zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) and secure multi-party computation (SMPC). Prior to Nillion, Miguel served as Chief Technology Officer at identity technology company Sedicii, which developed privacy-preserving identity and authentication technologies.

nilGPT.xyz: A modern domain for a new AI interface

nilGPT.xyz uses a .xyz domain for its public product interface, giving the chatbot a distinct home on the web while remaining connected to the broader Nillion ecosystem. Emerging technology projects often launch new tools or experimental products on dedicated domains that reflect the technology’s forward-looking nature. In this case, nilGPT.xyz serves as the entry point for users exploring Nillion’s approach to private AI. You can learn more by following the project on X/Twitter and Github, and visiting nilGPT.xyz.
