The .xyz community is home to exciting blockchain-based community platforms such as NFT-focused decentralized autonomous organization FlamingoDAO.xyz and the DAO-governed Universe.xyz, where you can launch your own community-driven NFT universe. In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday we’ll introduce you to an innovative platform that aims to integrate social media with the ever-growing blockchain community: Agora.xyz.
Agora.xyz is a social media and blockchain integration platform designed by Agora DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization focused on crypto-token-based social communities. According to their homepage, the vision of this platform is to “supercharge Web3 adoption by creating gasless, multichain and platform-agnostic solutions, without sacrificing decentralisation or privacy.” Agora Space recently launched the dedicated website for their DAO on Agora.xyz. Agora DAO co-founder Réka told us about the decision to build on an .xyz domain: “We chose .xyz because it symbolizes decentralization and the new wave of Web3 applications.”
The platform helps users integrate existing social media platforms like Twitter, Telegram, and Discord with blockchain technology through its Agora Social Oracle layer, which helps users to link their social media actions to the blockchain. The Agora Social Oracle layer is a collection of open-source APIs, bots, and smart contracts. The smart contracts analyze clusters of data from social media posts, which creates an information superhighway between social media platforms and the Ethereum blockchain network. Users can control their digital identity across the blockchain space and social media and automate publishing across all channels to keep their reach independent from individual platforms.
The platform’s full suite of tools are still in development. The first tool available to use is called Guild.xyz, which is an authorization layer for Web3 and a no-code tool for token-gated Discord. Agora.xyz is aiming to collaborate with similar DAOs and partner with other innovative platforms such as Web3 non-profit organization Witnet Foundation and blockchain-based payment system Superfluid so that it can create more solutions and functionality to its ecosystem.
