In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to a Portland, Oregon-based art gallery highlighting women artists and underrepresented creatives through rotating exhibitions and installations: Imperfecta.xyz.
Imperfecta.xyz is the online home of Imperfecta, an art and design gallery based in Portland, Oregon. According to the website, the gallery focuses on “elevating women artists and underrepresented creatives” and presents a range of work, including visual art, sculpture, and installations. Imperfecta re-launched in February 2026 in a new Pearl District location, expanding into a larger exhibition space. That month, Portland local news station KOIN 6 News featured founder Daria Loi discussing the gallery’s move to the Pearl District, where a new, larger space allows for expanded exhibitions, installations, and a broader presentation of artists.1 Upcoming exhibitions listed on Imperfecta.xyz include “frol·ic·some,” an invitational group show, and “From the Dark Side of Whimsy” by New Mexico-based artist Kelli Cooper2, both scheduled for May 7 to May 30, 2026, with an opening reception on May 7, 2026 from 5–8 pm.
Imperfecta’s gallery space is located in the General Automotive Building (1923) in Portland. According to Imperfecta.xyz, the space includes an exhibition gallery, an installation area, a reading section, and a cabinet of curiosities called “Hiraeth.” The website states that exhibitions rotate monthly and include both solo and group shows featuring local and international artists. In March 2026, Oregon ArtsWatch reported that the expanded location includes dedicated areas for installations and participatory projects, as well as space for larger works.3 The gallery represents a range of artists, including Paola Zakimi, whose work spans art dolls, painting, and illustration, and Sophie Spinelle, a conceptual photographer exploring themes of glamour, queerness, and identity. One available piece by Sophie Spinelle, titled Swagger, is a limited edition matte giclée print (24 x 30 inches). According to the website, the photograph features Sauyce West, a body acceptance activist, and was created in collaboration with photographer Carey Lynne Fruth. The website states that the work engages with the visual language of fashion and glamour to examine how cultural standards shape representation and visibility.

Daria Loi is the founder and director of Imperfecta. Oregon ArtsWatch reports that Daria previously worked in architecture, design research, and technology before opening the gallery.4
As shared by the Aspen Institute, Daria contributed to the Virtually Human Working Group, a cross-disciplinary initiative composed of 24 leaders across industry, research, civil society, and academia examining how technology shapes human connection and experience.5 The Aspen Institute states that the group aimed to better understand how continuous interaction with technology influences relationships between individuals and with themselves, and to develop shared frameworks and research approaches. Daria’s Aspen Institute profile states that she has held various leadership roles, including heading up Design and People Experiences at Mozilla and working as a Principal Engineer at Intel. The profile also notes that Daria has published more than 80 articles, holds more than 10 patents, and has presented research internationally. Additionally, in 2018, Daria was recognized as one of Italy’s 50 most inspiring women in technology and received Intel’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Award.6 According to her personal website, Daria has led more than 50 projects across design and innovation, filed or was granted 13 patents, and delivered dozens of lectures and workshops. Daria transitioned out of a career in technology in 2023 to launch Imperfecta and focus on supporting artists. Daria currently holds roles including Arts Commissioner for the City of Oregon City (2024–present) and Treasurer of Destination Oregon City (2025–present), along with advisory, academic, and program committee roles across design and research organizations.7
Imperfecta.xyz serves as the primary online presence for the gallery, replacing an earlier use of StudioLoi.xyz as part of its transition into a larger Portland location. Maintaining the original domain and redirecting it to the current website can support continuity and help audiences find up-to-date information during a transition. .XYZ is widely used by forward-thinking organizations working across creative and emerging fields, complementing Imperfecta’s focus on diverse artistic formats and underrepresented creatives. We had the opportunity to speak with Daria about her choice of .xyz for her gallery’s website. As she explained,
“When I was looking for a domain extension for my art gallery, I was looking for something that would feel unpretentious, non-corporate, and fresh. I also was looking for something that would sound wondrous, as wonderment is at the center of the Imperfecta Gallery's philosophy. When I saw .xyz I immediately knew it was the perfect fit for my business, which focuses on promoting local and international women artists and underrepresented creatives.”
