Skyfire.xyz is the online home of Skyfire, a payments platform built to support transactions in the evolving AI-driven economy. Developed by former engineers of Ripple, a fintech company and leading provider of cross-border payment and digital asset custody solutions, Skyfire is designed to serve the needs of autonomous AI agents—software systems that can make decisions and execute payments independently. Coinbase Ventures and the a16z Crypto Startup Accelerator (CSX) provided additional funding to Skyfire’s seed round, bringing the AI payment platform’s total funding to $9.5 million. This follows Skyfire’s initial $8.5 million raise in August, supported by multiple venture partners.1
The innovative platform, which is currently in Beta as of November 13, 2024, is designed to enable AI agents to perform autonomous transactions by providing tools for secure wallet access, identity verification, and budget management. Integrated with Base, an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain, Skyfire supports low-cost payment processing, with transaction fees typically under one cent. Skyfire helps AI agents to transact using stablecoins, such as USDC, or traditional payment methods, fostering payment flows across various sectors, including data platforms, service providers, and enterprise applications. Skyfire initiates payments between AI agents and businesses in multiple industries, highlighting its functionality within the expanding AI agent economy.
Skyfire is co-founded by Amir Sarhangi, who serves as CEO, and Craig DeWitt, the company’s product director. Both bring experience from Ripple, where Amir previously held the role of VP of Product and Services, and Craig served as Senior Director of Product. Their combined knowledge in blockchain and financial technology informs Skyfire’s development, including Amir’s leadership in product strategy and Craig’s experience in creating enterprise blockchain applications.
