Decentralized finance (DeFi) developers use .xyz domains to launch forward-looking platforms. Prime brokerage firm Arkis.xyz is geared towards accelerating the adoption of DeFi. Payment platform Bridge.xyz aims to simplify stablecoin payments. Asset issuance platform Noble.xyz aims to simplify stablecoin liquidity across multiple blockchains. In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a financial infrastructure platform designed to connect banks, blockchains, and stablecoins through programmable payments: Velocity.xyz.
Velocity.xyz is the online home of Velocity, a platform built to unify global payments and treasury operations through stablecoin technology. According to the website, Velocity’s platform is purpose-built for enterprise-scale operations. It is designed for enterprises that need modern infrastructure to manage capital across both traditional banking systems and digital asset networks. According to a May 2025 announcement, Velocity emerged from stealth with $10M in pre-seed funding to launch its Stablecoin Payment Account. The round was led by Activant Capital, with participation from Fuel Ventures, Triton Capital, and others.1
Velocity operates in the evolving space between traditional finance and digital assets. The platform is designed for enterprises that need to move and manage capital across fiat and blockchain-based systems. Velocity aims to address real-world challenges in liquidity management, cross-border payments, and treasury operations. As described in its May 2025 funding announcement, the platform combines the programmability of stablecoins with the rigor of traditional financial infrastructure to meet these needs.2
The company is founded by Tom Greenwood and Eric Queathem, who bring years of experience in financial infrastructure and enterprise payments. Tom and Eric’s backgrounds are detailed on Velocity’s website and their respective LinkedIn profiles. Tom previously founded IFX Payments and Volt, the latter of which was named UK Fintech of the Year in 2024. 3Eric spent nearly a decade at Worldpay in senior leadership roles, including EVP of Growth and Global Head of Strategy. According to Velocity’s website, the team is supported by an advisory board with current and former executives from major firms including Stripe, Visa, Goldman Sachs, and PayPal.
The Velocity team uses a branded email address ([email protected]), reinforcing consistency across their digital communications. Using a domain-based email tied to their website can support clarity and brand alignment as the company engages with clients and partners across both traditional and blockchain-based financial systems.
