In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to a travel app that connects solo travelers to real-time local plans: Suppertime.xyz.
Suppertime.xyz is the online home of Suppertime, a mobile app designed to connect solo travelers with group activities happening nearby. According to the app’s website, opening Suppertime shows a live map of plans in the user’s current city, including hikes, coffee meetups, co-working sessions, and nights out, each pinned with the host’s photo. As noted in the FAQ section on the homepage, Suppertime is built around group activities rather than one-on-one matching. According to Suppertime.xyz, the app has been featured on Product Hunt.1
The website describes the app’s process in four steps: a user opens the app in a new city and sees a map of nearby plans; they can tap an existing pin to join a group chat, or create their own plan by selecting a vibe, setting a time, and dropping a pin; attendees can see basic information about each other, including names, ages, where they’re from, and languages spoken, before a plan begins; and once a plan’s time window closes, the associated group chat is intended to auto-expire. Beyond single-city plans, the website states that users can add a destination city and travel dates, and the app is designed to surface other travelers with overlapping dates automatically. Suppertime.xyz also describes a “passport” feature designed to visually track the countries a user has visited through the app over time.
According to Suppertime’s FAQ, the app includes readable user profiles, a one-tap report and block function, a moderation team, and plans that are public and group-based by default. The FAQ states that Suppertime is location-aware and works in any city, and that the app currently supports 7 languages. Per the website, core features including discovering plans, hosting, and trip planning are free, with an optional paid tier offering additional discovery tools. Suppertime is available on the Apple App Store.
Suppertime was built by Bartu Bozkurt, who describes himself on the app’s Product Hunt launch post as a solo developer.2 On Suppertime.xyz, Bartu explains that the idea for Suppertime grew out of several years of traveling while working remotely, when the apps he tried were either for dating or giant group chats that never led anywhere. He writes, “So I built the thing I wished existed: a map of real plans, with real people, that quietly disappears when the night’s over.” He currently serves as Senior Software Engineer at crypto launchpad platform PinkSale, a role he has held since March 2023, and previously worked as a Full Stack Engineer at a stealth-mode startup, according to the Experience section of Bartu’s LinkedIn profile.3
