In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a company reimagining global payments through innovative financial infrastructure: Borderless.xyz.
Borderless.xyz is the online home of Borderless, a blockchain-based payments firm. It supports stablecoins (digital currencies tied to the value of traditional money), real-world assets (RWAs), and fiat currencies (such as dollars or euros). The company operates in 51 countries and supports 24 currencies through its Global Transfer Protocol (GTP). GTP is a system that helps transfer money across borders, process payouts, and provide ways to add or withdraw funds. Unlike traditional banking systems that rely on multiple intermediary banks, GTP settles payments directly between local financial institutions licensed to operate in specific regions. This approach is designed to make global payments faster and more cost-effective. In October 2024, Borderless raised $3 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Amity Ventures, with participation from nine angel investors, including Talos founder Anton Katz and Fireblocks founder Michael Shaulov. This brings the blockchain-based payments firm’s total funding to $3.3 million.1
The firm’s GTP supports various use cases, including global remittance services, collections, trade settlements, and payroll processing. With 32 payment methods and partnerships with six financial institutions, GTP fosters settlements in stablecoins or fiat currencies to simplify transactions. The platform is designed to accommodate industries such as consumer remittance apps, payouts platforms, wallet infrastructure, and cross-border payment APIs, integrating easily into existing payment systems to support a range of businesses.
Borderless aims to address the challenges of traditional banking, which can be slow, fragmented, and costly for cross-border payments. Borderless seeks to minimize reliance on multiple currency exchanges and intermediary banks by utilizing stablecoins and RWAs. This approach fosters access to stable currencies in emerging markets while offering developers tools to build global payment solutions. The firm contributes to the development of onchain banking infrastructure by focusing on a unified network for stablecoin-enabled financial institutions.
