Focusing on brand identity design and custom typography, Joseph’s approach emphasizes craftsmanship and attention to detail, creating memorable visuals that resonate with his clients. He shares that his journey as a designer is shaped by his nomadic upbringing, allowing him to draw inspiration from both urban and rural settings. The new logo, inspired by the calming ritual of stacking stones, combines softness and simplicity, forming an abstract ‘H’ that embodies a sense of zen. His design approach prioritizes “making room to breathe,” employing a layout system that leaves 50% of the space empty. This thoughtful design emphasizes selective focus on health and wellbeing, aligning seamlessly with HealthyLine’s mission.
Joseph’s logos reflect his commitment to craftsmanship, with each design embodying the personality of the brand it represents. For example, the logo he created for Olivette Chocolate in 2023 features a playful yet refined olive on a toothpick, adding a touch of sophistication to the brand’s identity. Similarly, his 2020 logo for Muah Cosmetics suggests a puckered set of lips, capturing the essence of beauty and allure. Each logo brings a unique aesthetic that aligns seamlessly with the brand’s identity, showcasing Joseph’s dedication to thoughtful and intentional design.
We spoke with Joseph about his decision to build his personal website on .xyz. As he explained,
“I’m really drawn to the .xyz domain because it calls the alphabet to mind. As someone deeply interested and entrenched into the world of typography and graphic design, it felt like a nice way of denoting that my work, housed on a .xyz domain, was built on my typographic attention to detail. I think the domain has become more and more popular with type foundries and designers because of that association.”
