OpenLayer aims to help users contribute and validate data through a Chrome extension, with developers accessing this data upon user consent. In November 2024, OpenLayer raised $5 million in seed funding from investors including a16z Crypto Startup Accelerator (CSX), Geometry Ventures, and others.1

It uses artificial intelligence to enable secure data proofs, which can validate achievements, train AI models, and enhance user targeting. OpenLayer is also integrated with EigenLayer.xyz, a protocol on the Ethereum blockchain that boosts the economic security of its services. Its network includes over $10 billion in restaked ether and 48,575 participants, supporting decentralized applications in areas like social networking, gaming, and AI.
To maintain data integrity while protecting user privacy, OpenLayer uses advanced cryptographic methods, including three-party TLS protocols and decentralized notary servers. Key features such as selective data sharing, secure execution environments, and measures to prevent collusion are designed to reduce security risks and build trust in the system.
OpenLayer upgraded their domain from openlayer.tech to the versatile OpenLayer.xyz.
