This week we’re excited to announce partnerships with two organizations whose missions XYZ is proud to support: Urban TXT and Generation Girl. Together with these organizations, we are helping teens and young people make the most of their internet experience and set themselves up for success in the digital world.
Urban TXT is a Los Angeles based youth development program that teaches coding to young men of color who come from low income communities, greatly assisting them in going on to attend college and pursue careers in computer science.
You may remember Urban TXT from their hackathon Hustle N’ Code, which XYZ supported 2 years ago. Since then, Urban TXT has grown to now boast over 1,500 program participants per year, along with a spiffy new hackerspace in which those students can learn, complete with computer monitors donated by XYZ. We will be supporting the Hustle N’ Code hackathon again this year (stay tuned to our social media to follow along) and we look forward to helping them build out their new hackerspace into a bed of innovation and education for young men from south LA to follow their dreams of learning to code.
Generation Girl is XYZ’s newest partner, and one that matches the international reach of .xyz. Generation Girl is a non-profit in Indonesia that aims to inspire young girls to become leaders in the traditionally male-dominated STEM fields.
Through our partnership with Generation Girl, we will support their upcoming Winter Club program and 2019 Summer Club program, and will provide .xyz domains for the young girls enrolled so they can develop their newfound interests and share their innovative ideas with the world. Keep an eye on our social media, because you may see us highlighting sites the girls in Generation Girl’s program have made!
