Developers use .xyz domains to advance blockchain technology and develop useful solutions. Blockchain platform Fluent.xyz supports cross-VM app development with real-time composability. Layer-2 blockchain Atlas.xyz aims to deliver low-cost, reliable solutions for verifiable finance. Tech startup Narval.xyz is focused on simplifying web3 wallet management.  In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a Layer-1 platform designed to power decentralized physical infrastructure at scale: U2U.xyz.

U2U.xyz: A layer-1 blockchain platform for Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks

U2U.xyz is the online home of U2U Network, a modular layer-1 blockchain designed to support Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN). It integrates Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) technology with the Helios Consensus protocol to deliver scalability, security, and speed for enterprise applications. The platform is tailored for industries such as telecommunications, AI, and Internet of Things (IoT), offering infrastructure that supports decentralized use cases. In 2024, U2U Network announced that it had raised $13.8 million in funding from investors including KuCoin Ventures, Chain Capital, and JDI Ventures.1

A platform designed for scalability and decentralized application development

According to its litepaper, U2U Network addresses the limitations of traditional blockchains by combining a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture, which organizes transactions in a structure that allows for faster processing, with the Inter-ledger Protocol, a system designed to enable transactions across different blockchain networks. The network aims to support:

  • Up to 500,000 transactions per second in testing (17,000 TPS per shard, or individual processing unit)
  • Finality times as low as 650 milliseconds (the time it takes for a transaction to be confirmed and irreversible)
  • EVM-compatible smart contracts (programmable agreements that run on Ethereum-based platforms)
  • Interoperability (the ability to work across different blockchain systems and traditional financial networks)

One of its core products, the decentralized VPN service U2DPN, operates through a global network of over 71,000 nodes (independent computers that participate in the network) and is designed to offer secure, low-latency connectivity. The VPN is intended for use cases requiring high levels of security and privacy, particularly in sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Meet the team behind U2U Network

U2U Network is led by a team of co-founders with backgrounds in blockchain, business, and technology. According to the website, Luu Tran serves as Co-founder and CEO, with Trang Phung as Co-founder and Co-CEO, and Tran Tuan Anh as Co-founder and COO. The team includes contributors with experience at early Ethereum initiatives, Google, and Y Combinator-backed companies in Vietnam. The network reports a core team of 100 people and emphasizes its goal to develop hardware-focused decentralized infrastructure through a long-term approach.

U2U.xyz: A next-generation domain for next-generation blockchain solutions

U2U Network secured U2U.xyz for its domain name. The choice of a .xyz domain aligns with its position in the emerging decentralized infrastructure ecosystem. The domain provides a concise and memorable web address that reflects the network’s focus on next-generation blockchain solutions.
