Revisiting BostonSeaport.xyz: Boston’s historical development project continues to grow

Back in 2017, we shared a feature about lifestyle center development project BostonSeaport.xyz, located in the heart of Boston’s Seaport district. One of our team members recently enjoyed the opportunity to see this project in person and captured a few photos for us. With the holiday season comes an increase in travel and tourism, so this #WebsiteWednesday we are checking back in to see what’s new at BostonSeaport.xyz

BostonSeaport.xyz is the online home of Boston Seaport, a 7.6 million square foot lifestyle center comprising residential, hotel, office, retail, entertainment, and public open spaces in Boston’s Seaport district. The project, one of the largest development projects in Boston’s history, was developed by Massachusetts-based property developer WS Development. BostonSeaport.xyz serves to inform the growing district with a regularly updated calendar of events, transportation services, parking information, lists of services and amenities, and even a link to career opportunities within the center. There’s also a comprehensive directory of over 35 shopping destinations. BostonSeaport.xyz has become an online information hub for all things related to the development project.

As the project continues to develop, so has the choice of shopping destinations and family-friendly activities. Visitors to the center can enjoy a variety of new and exciting special events each month that weren’t available the first time we featured BostonSeaport.xyz. The Holiday Market at Snowport celebrates small, local businesses and is running until January 2, 2022. This new seasonal event features more than 60 small businesses, a Christmas tree market, and special menus from resident restaurants. The Institute of Contemporary Art Boston (ICA), which hosts various exhibitions, family activities, and teen programming throughout the year, is now free for all visitors every Thursday evening. On Sundays afternoons, new green venue The Rocks at Harbor Way presents Singing Tree concerts. At this family-friendly event, the biorhythms of Sugar Maples and Sassafras trees are translated into music by strategically placed electrodes that measure the electrical variations of leaves and translate that data into sound. The Rocks at Harbor Way venue was introduced in October 2021, and is the first phase of the Harbor Way public space slated for completion in 2024. The completed pedestrian promenade will create a link between Summer Street and the waterfront, and is inspired by New England’s coastal geology, forest landscapes, and traditional wooden boardwalks.

Since our first feature, BostonSeaport.xyz gained some retailers like Outdoor Voices and Everlane, as well as eateries like Chipotle and Harpoon Brewery. BostonSeaport.xyz is also now home to an experiential shopping area known as The Current. The Current was developed in 2018, and was designed as an inviting village for guests to wander and explore. The experiential space features a rotating lineup of emerging brands and small businesses. Retailers including Italian skincare brand Aloe Attiva, custom denim jacket designer BROdenim, and luxury pajama brand Maison Nou are making their stay at The Current through the middle of January 2022.
