BlueskyWeb.xyz is the online home of Bluesky, a public benefit corporation aimed at building a decentralized form of social media. The Bluesky initiative was commissioned in 2019 by technology billionaire and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey while he was still the CEO of Twitter. BlueskyWeb.xyz received $13 million in funding from Twitter, with the intention of Twitter eventually adopting the technology. BlueskyWeb.xyz strives to create a standard protocol for social media platforms. The new protocol is intended to allow separate social media networks to interact with each other via an open standard, despite each network having its own curation and moderation systems. On October 18, 2022, BlueskyWeb.xyz introduced its decentralized social media protocol, named The AT Protocol. They also opened a waitlist for the Bluesky social app, which will serve as a browser with which to access the AT Protocol network. On October 18, 2022, BlueskyWeb.xyz shared via Twitter that there were 30,000 sign-ups for the app’s waiting list in the first two days.1
The Bluesky team aims to create a decentralized protocol for social media. This would allow companies and individuals to build apps, services, or recommendation algorithms on the same underlying networks and data. The concept is similar to how email platforms operate. In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a forward-thinking ticketing platform that features the options of purchasing, selling, and exchanging NFT plane tickets: Travel.xyz.
Travel.xyz is a web3 ticketing platform from Argentine airline Flybondi. The airline has partnered with blockchain technology company TravelX to develop their innovative ticketing platform. Travel.xyz helps buyers purchase tickets as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which they have named “NFTickets.” Customers can pay for their tickets through cryptocurrency payment system Binance Pay, using USD Coin (USDC) cryptocurrency to complete the transaction. Travel.xyz aims to support additional crypto stablecoins in the future to provide more possibilities to customers.
You can search for international and domestic flights on Travel.xyz by inputting your preferred dates of travel, desired location, and the total number of passengers. Travel.xyz lets you reserve your desired flight without the need for immediate payment. The platform will lock the price in place so you can pay up to 72 hours later. Travel.xyz’s tokenized tickets have greater functionality than standard tickets. NFTicket holders will be able to sell or transfer the NFTs to other travelers up to three days before the applicable flight. You can use Travel.xyz to transfer your NFTicket to whomever you want without penalty. This feature allows for greater flexibility and can help ease the stress from sudden changes of plans. Ticket holders can also use Travel.xyz to resell or auction their NFTickets. By reselling or auctioning your NFTickets, you can potentially recoup your expenses and even make a profit. These features can provide greater flexibility for travelers without the risks associated when purchasing tickets well in advance. The .xyz blockchain community has continued to grow since the XYZ Registry first worked with the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) to enable ETH wallet pairing with .xyz domains in 2018. TechCrunch writer Anita Ramaswamy noticed that .xyz had become the go-to URL ending for many web3 companies and published an article titled “WTF is .xyz?” XYZ continued innovating with the blockchain community in 2021, when we offered eth.xyz, a service aimed to help ENS users share what they want with the world.
