AI research company AMILabs.xyz, co-founded by Yann LeCun, is focused on building world models for real-world intelligence. Fortune-featured Icebreaker.xyz introduces a trust-based professional network for AI-driven environments. Crypto payment platform AEON.xyz, by former Binance and Google team members, develops payment infrastructure for AI-driven transactions. In this week’s #AIMonday, we’ll introduce you to an open source collaboration workspace where human and AI agent teams work together in shared channels: Buzz.xyz.
Buzz.xyz is the online home of Buzz, a collaboration platform released by Block.xyz, the company co-founded by Jack Dorsey that also operates Square, Cash App, Afterpay, and Tidal. According to Block’s announcement, Buzz is built on Nostr, a decentralized protocol for signed messages and portable identities. The platform includes channels, threads, direct messages, voice, media sharing, code repositories, and automated workflows, and Block describes the interface as similar to existing team communication tools.1 As reported by TechCrunch, Buzz is positioned as an alternative to workplace messaging platform Slack and code hosting platform GitHub.2 Buzz is released under an Apache-2.0 license, with its code available on GitHub, and Block’s desktop app is available now for macOS, Windows, and Linux.3 4
According to Block, AI agents in Buzz hold their own cryptographic identities and defined permissions and can post, review code, run approved automations, and participate in workflows alongside human teammates rather than only responding to direct commands.5 Block describes Buzz as model-agnostic and agent-agnostic, so teams can connect agents built on different underlying models or agent harnesses, including Claude Code, Codex, and goose.6 7 Block’s engineering blog states that each agent’s owner signs a scoped authorization. The agent then signs its own contributions with its own identity, so revoking an agent’s access does not require changing the credentials of the human who authorized it.8 According to Block’s engineering blog, Buzz stores repositories as content-addressed packfiles with a single mutable pointer. The blog states this approach was built to handle a high volume of simultaneous commits and CI activity.9 Buzz is designed to route an agent’s model requests through another community member’s hardware, so a team can share computing capacity without sending prompts through Buzz’s own server.10
Buzz was announced by Twitter and Block co-founder Jack Dorsey, who described the platform on X as “model-agnostic, decentralized, self-sovereign, and open source.”11 Bradley Axen, Head of AI Capabilities at Block, said the company built Buzz because it believes a shared workspace for humans and agents “should be open,” rather than proprietary.12 The Block engineering blog post introducing Buzz was written by Tyler Longwell, who describes his role at Block as building multi-player AI. Tyler states he previously helped build the company’s first Slack-integrated AI agent before working on Buzz.13
The platform launches as a new collaboration platform from Block, the company co-founded by Jack Dorsey. According to Bradley Axen, Block’s Head of AI Capabilities, the platform is built around the idea that a shared workspace for humans and AI agents should be open by design rather than proprietary. Its approach to agent identity, where each agent holds its own cryptographic signature and scoped permissions, reflects Block’s stated goal of treating agents as participants rather than background tools. A generic domain extension like .xyz is not tied to any one industry, and has become a common choice among AI and deep tech ventures building outside traditional categories. Block has chosen .xyz for four of its properties that we know of: Block.xyz as its own primary domain for the Fortune 500 parent company, web3 initiatives Spiral.xyz and Proto.xyz, and now collaboration platform Buzz.xyz.
