Skilled artist OwenMoore.xyz uses his .xyz to showcase his generative art

In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to a generative artist who showcases his artwork using a “FirstNameLastName.xyz” domain: OwenMoore.xyz.

OwenMoore.xyz is the personal website of Owen Moore, a Canadian artist with a degree in Interactive Multimedia Design. His passion for technology and design help inform his generative art, interactive media, and web applications, where he combines his technical knowledge with his artistic vision. Generative art refers to art that is created using algorithms and computer programs, where the artist sets certain rules or parameters and the computer generates a unique artwork based on these rules. The focus is on the process of creation, rather than the end result. The results can be unpredictable, making it a form of experimental and interactive art. Owen’s work has been recognized by NFT creation platform Art Blocks, a website that showcases unique and creative computer-generated artworks by selected artists. These pieces represent the cutting edge of this new and emerging art form. Within his first year of making generative art, Owen’s projects were selected by Art Blocks’ Curation Board for their “world-class innovation, technical rigor, and aesthetic beauty.”¹ Owen is dedicated to exploring the potential of new technologies, such as blockchain smart contract development, to enhance his artwork and take it in new directions.

Owen’s artwork is easy to explore online with a simple and informative website design, which can help him to attract collaborators and clients. By hovering over “Artwork” on his menu bar, you can choose from various series in Owen’s collection and learn more about them. Erratic is a series that, as Owen details, “began to take shape through a series of experiments aimed at taking the once smooth, blended forms and tearing, distorting and otherwise iteratively fragmenting them beyond recognition.” The results are a mix of calm and chaos, which helped him come up with the name “Erratic.” The bold and unique works are available for purchase on Sansa.xyz, a generative art and NFT marketplace.

Here, he revisits the basics of generative art. The first section, Colors, is Owen’s study of dynamic palette generation, style modifications, gradients and simple arrangements. Owen honed his skills through his creation of bright and futuristic geometric patterns, which provided a strong foundation and prepared him for more ambitious projects. He created this artwork using generative art platform fxhash.xyz. The innovative platform helps artists to publish Generative Tokens, which are stored on the Tezos blockchain. These tokens are programs designed to produce random outputs, and once enabled, anyone with a Tezos wallet can mint their own unique iteration. This results in a one-of-a-kind piece that is stored as an NFT on the Tezos blockchain.
