In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to a multidisciplinary creative studio developing branded content, documentaries, music videos and more: Push.xyz.
Push.xyz is the online home of PUSH, a Shanghai-based multidisciplinary creative studio. PUSH aims to collaborate with unexpected makers, doers, and thinkers from around the world. With offices in Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, and Oslo, the agency creates branded content, documentaries, and music videos for global brands like Adidas and Beats by Dre, and artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Rosalía, and Arlo Parks.
The studio has a substantial portfolio of work that you can review on their homepage. PUSH is responsible for producing the Beats by Dre: Beyond Symmetry campaign. During the production of Beyond Symmetry, PUSH spent several months capturing the diverse, vibrant culture of Shanghai. This short film beautifully contrasts the lives of extraordinary individuals in the city, emphasizing themes of diversity, love, and the universal beauty found in people and their relationships. Beyond Symmetry aims to present a unique perspective on Shanghai, a place PUSH proudly calls home. The film showcases how, regardless of who you are or where you come from, the essence of beauty exists within and around the people you love.
PUSH worked with Spanish singer, songwriter, producer, and actress Rosalía for her Tuya music video. The music video was filmed in Tokyo, featuring well-known locations like Shibuya Crossing and Golden Gai. The production also included scenes shot at Hoshi Onsen, a historic hot spring resort, which contributed to the video’s ambiance. The director, STILLZ, incorporated elements reminiscent of the film “Lost in Translation,” blending them with aspects of contemporary Tokyo life.
Mamushi – Megan Thee Stallion feat Yuki Chiba – PUSH, 2024
In August 2024, the agency collaborated with rapper Megan Thee Stallion with the release of Mamushi, a cross-cultural collaboration with Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba. The track, part of Megan’s first independent album, quickly gained popularity and emerged as one of the standout songs from the 18-track project. Mamushi also sparked a viral dance trend on TikTok, which Megan incorporated into the visually striking music video. Filmed on location in Tokyo, the video features Megan alongside actor Shô Kasamatsu, known for his roles in Tokyo Vice and Gannibal. The video’s dynamic choreography and the bustling backdrop of Tokyo’s streets helped make this project one of the highlights in PUSH’s impressive portfolio of work.
