NFT-focused Wolf.Game pits sheep against wolves in a strategic competition for crypto rewards

Web3 developers are using .xyz and XYZ Registry domains like .Game, .Monster, and .Quest, to build imaginative blockchain-based games. NFT artist and game developer Daniil Dolia’s DoliaCats.xyz provides Dolia Cat NFT holders access to the Meowverse, a community that incorporates games, a decentralized finance platform, and more. Ethereum-based exploration game Sipher.xyz is centered around customizable NFT characters within a vast online universe. Adventure game HelloKittyFrens.xyz is a globe-trotting NFT adventure featuring six Hello Kitty characters who can travel to eight different cities around the world. In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a strategic NFT game centered around sheep and wolves: Wolf.Game.

Wolf.Game is the online home of Wolf Game, a “Play-to-Earn” (P2E) NFT game designed to look like a vintage 8-bit video game. A P2E game means that players have the opportunity to earn real-world assets while playing. Wolf.Game players use sheep and wolf-themed NFTs to compete for $WOOL, the platform’s cryptocurrency. The developer of Wolf.Game has combined DeFi and NFT mechanics to provide players with the opportunity to earn crypto while they play. The website warns players that the game has high stakes, and that your “successes and failures shall be defined by the choices you make.” Interested players can connect their MetaMask crypto wallet, load it with ETH, and then head to NFT marketplace OpenSea to invest in the game’s sheep and wolf-themed NFTs. In the game, sheep NFTs can help you earn $WOOL tokens, which allow you to mint new sheep or wolf NFTs. This generates more $WOOL, and so on. Players can use wolf NFTs to steal other players’ sheep and $WOOL. You can opt to cash out by swapping $WOOL on Uniswap, or by reselling your NFTs on OpenSea. You can also use your crypto to purchase Wolf Game merch, including socks, hats, and hoodies featuring the game’s wolves and sheep characters. 

Wolf.Game gained attention when Resy co-founder and VaynerMedia CEO Gary Vaynerchuk (AKA Gary Vee) tweeted his curiosity about the game in December 2021. He posted “Wolf game huh? #nft,” and his tweet garnered over 3,800 likes.¹

The anonymous platform founder hasn’t publicly revealed their identity.
