.XYZ’s reputation as a domain for innovative creatives has inspired talented individuals from around the globe to join the movement and develop their own portfolio websites on .xyz domains. England-based artist and cultural producer Rocca Holly-Nambi shares her portfolio on Philippines-based tech designer Brian Tan uses to share his design projects as well as news about his local chapter of Effective Altruism. Austria-based Aleyda Rocha uses to demonstrate her work as a researcher and artist. In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we spoke with a China-based visual effects designer who understands the importance of VFX artist portfolio websites to display your work as a visual creative:
Visit the splash page of Yue Jia’s VFX portfolio website, is the online portfolio of visual effects (VFX) designer Yue Jia. Yue is a VFX Director for Shanghai-based game developer and global publisher, XD Inc. He shared with us that he is an experienced real-time VFX artist, and previously worked as a designer for Epic Games where he worked on popular games such as Fortnite and Paragon. Real-time VFX artists apply real-time technology to game design. With this technology, the game’s response to the player’s command is nearly immediate, which is known as “real-time.”

Portfolio websites are very helpful for anyone to showcase their work and further their careers. A portfolio website can let your work speak for itself and help set you apart from your competition. When asked if he thinks it’s important for VFX designers to have a website, Yue said “Absolutely! Visual artists presenting their own works is an important way to build a brand. What can be more attractive than having a URL with your own unique domain name and custom-designed content?” We also inquired as to what helped him decide to build his website on a .xyz domain. He told us, quite simply, “I like the sense of mystery .xyz gave me.”

A visually striking splash page containing clips of Yue’s projects is the first thing a visitor sees when loading These vignettes include imagery of robots, a red and hazy doomscape, electric blue portals, deserted temples, and more. Visitors can gain an immediate understanding of Yue’s experience and skill in video game design as soon as they land on his website. The work in Yue’s splash page inspired us to ask him if he has a favorite project, and where he finds his inspiration. He told us, “My favorite project is the next one, and my inspiration is from the world’s best games and film effects, as well as the scenery of nature.”

Aspiring VFX creators can develop skills by taking Yue’s online courses. He told us, “I am now setting up course content step-by-step to serve practitioners in the game industry. Yes, in the future I plan to have more excellent and professional course content.” The Course page of provides detailed information about Yue’s course content options. Interested students can create a login and purchase their classes of interest. Yue implements the online on-demand method which means that users can log in to the website at any time to pick up where they left off. One of the courses he teaches is on Niagara, one of Unreal Engine’s advanced VFX development tools. Epic Games developed the Unreal Engine platform in 1998 and uses it to build their own games, including Fortnite, Gears of War, and Unreal Tournament. Yue states in the course description that while at Epic, his main work was centered around the use of Niagara.

We enjoy learning about the inspirations that drive the career choices and other paths of our .xyz community. Yue told us about the inspiration behind his pursuit of a career in VFX. “We all have had those little fantasies since we were young, the rabbit on the moon, stars that can be picked, I just persisted a little longer.” He also spoke more of the draw of .xyz domains. “.XYZ reminds me of the concept of ‘unknown’, and it is a very cool word that attracts artists, especially VFX artists.”

Choosing a strong, memorable domain name is beneficial because they’re easier to remember, repeat, and type. Smart creatives use their website URL as an opportunity to make a lasting impression on potential clients and collaborators, and set themselves apart from others in the industry. With, Yue has a domain name that makes a statement, indicates his expertise, and sticks in potential users’ minds. He believes his .xyz domain helps him reach his audience. “I think it makes the audience feel I am different. There are obvious differences between .xyz and regular domain names such as .com and .net, which will blow people away. It will be even better if the audience can also feel the ‘unknown’ charm that I like.”

We are very appreciative of this opportunity to speak with Yue. We are excited to see more of his work, and look forward to seeing more VFX artist portfolio websites populate the .xyz community. You can learn more by following Yue on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Bilibili (one of the most popular video content sites in China) and by visiting

When your business is promoting the rollout of a new product or service, a helpful strategy to consider is creating new promotion channels for it. Launching your new offering via its own website allows you to introduce its features and advantages to a global audience. You also have complete control over your website, which lets you decide the image you want to present. This week’s #WebsiteWednesday features a successful startup that introduced their new product via an inspiring dedicated website: is a dedicated promotional site created by 3D printing manufacturer Snapmaker for their new Luban software. Snapmaker raised nearly $3 million in seed round funding in February last year for their 3-in-1 3D printer. Now, they have developed Luban as the free and open-source 3D printing application for use with their printers. On, Snapmaker showcases the features of the software, like its user-friendly interface, camera capture technology, and multi-language support. Snapmaker says Luban is also equipped with custom profiles, file transfer over Wi-Fi, and multi-model support. Interested users can download the software right from for any of the three major OS: Mac, Windows, and Linux.

In addition to making it easy to download the software, also helps Snapmaker develop a community for Luban users to join. The site links to the official Snapmaker forum and Snapmaker Facebook groups. These allow adopters to share their experience and tips on using Luban with others. features a comfortable UI design as well, employing short paragraphs of text to explain the benefits of the Luban software. The text on is broken up to display download links for the Luban software at the top, middle, and bottom of the home page. This is a wise design choice meant to increase the chances of converting visitors to Luban users.

Establishing a standalone brand for your new offering is one major benefit of creating a separate website to launch a product or service. The branded domain differentiates the software from Snapmaker’s 3D printers, making it an appealing product on its own. The website is designed to promote the software for all 3D printing projects, and works to promote Snapmaker’s printers as well, thanks to the connection of the brands. is a great example of how a business can use a dedicated promotional website to efficiently introduce a new product offering to its target audience. The website displays the most important and helpful information about its software to potential adopters in a more interactive and simple way than the standard white paper. In addition, is indexed into search engine results, allowing Snapmaker to promote Luban to a worldwide audience.

When you promote a new service or product via a dedicated promotional site, you have the freedom to share that information in the exact way you’d like. Introducing it to relevant communities can help increase customers’ connection to your brand, and allows them to get information quickly and easily by remembering one simple branded URL. The site can also be sent to potential investors as a professional and memorable introduction to your offerings.

Got a new product or service coming soon from your business? Follow’s lead and introduce it to the most relevant audiences exactly how you want via your own branded .xyz website.

Happy New Year #GenXYZ! We hope you’re as excited for 2018 as we are. But in all the anticipation surrounding the start of a new calendar year, it’s important to take time to reflect on everything that was accomplished in the previous one. For all of us here at XYZ, that list of accomplishments is something we couldn’t be prouder of. But we didn’t do it alone, so we want to look back at all the awesome things Generation XYZ helped make happen in 2017.

Major new XYZ initiatives launched in 2017

2017 was a big year for growth here at XYZ. We acquired our 10th domain extension, .Storage, and re-launched it as an unrestricted namespace, which caught the attention of storage businesses and even coverage by industry resources like Sparefoot. Earlier in 2017, after teasing a big announcement for months through our AYDACFU campaign, we launched a new class of 1.111 billion .xyz domains, dubbed the 1.111B® Class. It encompasses all 6 through 9-digit numeric .xyz domains that have been reclassified for alternative uses, and we’ve already seen some very unique examples of active 1.111B® Class sites.

Speaking of alternative uses for .xyz domains, one of our favorite highlights in 2017 was the announcement of the exclusive partnership between Ethereum and XYZ, which allows users to pair their .xyz domains to their Ethereum wallets, making crypto trading and management a simple process through any registrar that offers .xyz. This partnership opens up Ethereum to a whole new audience and gives .xyz adopters an unprecedented new freedom in how to use their domain. Check out a video of Ethereum announcing the partnership at their DevCon3 event below.

Partnerships and events that helped make 2017 great

If you’ve been a regular reader of our monthly event recap blog series, you already know that we’ve visited dozens of countries and countless cities around the globe to spread the word about .xyz this year. We brought the #XYZsquad to San Diego for Comic-Con, then to Downtown Los Angeles for the world’s biggest gaming convention, E3, and they even danced their way onto Austin’s local news at SXSW. And that was just the beginning – they also made pit stops in China, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, among other places.

In addition to making .xyz’s presence known to the public at major events like these, we are also proud to be able to connect directly with the members of #GenXYZ with the help of our strategic partners. Product Forge regularly provides .xyz domains to the innovators who participate in their hackathons, CoderDojo teaches middle school and high school students how to code with their own .xyz domains, and Junior Achievement implemented a new website requirement to their 13-week entrepreneurship classes, which gives high school students .xyz domains – and all the other necessary tools and resources – to build their company’s first website.

.XYZ end users make a big splash in 2017

All of us at Team XYZ clearly have a lot to look back on and be proud of from 2017, but none of it would be possible without the support and passion of all of you in the #GenXYZ community. Your passion is what motivated us to eventually claim two Tech in Motion TIMMY Awards this year, one for Best Tech Workplace for Diversity and another for our CEO Daniel Negari for Best Tech Manager. So below we’re sharing just a few of the many big successes from our end users in 2017:

MIT’s raises $200 million in funding for new startups featured on BuzzFeed News

Dodge creates concierge tracking service on Performance.Cars
