In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday we’ll introduce you to a no-code NFT platform aimed at helping creators launch NFT collections with lower transaction costs: Fair.xyz.
Fair.xyz is a no-code NFT platform aimed at creating a more efficient and fair NFT launch process for both creators and collectors. The London-based platform is designed with a combination of smart contract and proprietary queueing technology intended to reduce obstacles like gas wars, failed transactions, and more. Fair.xyz raised a total of $4.5M in funding led by blockchain-focused venture capital firm Eden Block, with participation from leading NFT marketplace OpenSea and seed-stage venture capital firm NFX.1 In February 2022, when the Russo-Ukrainian War broke out, the founders reached out to more than 40 officials from the Ukrainian government with offers to launch an NFT collection to raise funds for the war. They succeeded and launched the first ever government-backed NFT collection.2 On September 7, 2022, Fair.xyz announced a new partnership with leading NFT marketplace OpenSea to launch a feature named “Minter Token.” A Minter Token can cryptographically prove the minter of a specific NFT, even if they no longer own it. Each Minter Token is “soulbound,” which means it is non-tradable and belongs to the user forever.3

On August 9, 2022, Fair.xyz shared a tweet claiming that more than 15,000 people have signed up for the waitlist.4 The highly anticipated platform features proprietary blockchain technology focused on easier launches, while maintaining the creator’s full ownership rights to the project’s smart contract. Fair.xyz’s smart-queuing technology helps to eliminate transaction expenses like gas fees while reducing the number of unsuccessful transactions and bots from traditional minting activities. The platform’s current infrastructure has been optimized to considerably reduce gas fees during a mint on Ethereum and Polygon blockchains. The platform is also developing a solution that will help creators launch NFT collections quickly and simply. In an interview with crypto-focused news source The Block, co-founder Isaac Bentata Chocron explained “When you launch at scale — say 10,000 – you have to deploy your own smart contract, build a website and integrate the NFT fully into it, generate your artwork and decentralize it. It’s a very elaborate process that can take weeks for an experienced team.”5 Fair.xyz hopes to reduce the process down to a matter of minutes.

The .xyz community is home to forward-thinking innovators pioneering the field of alternative assets. Ethereum-based cryptocurrency wallet Monolith.xyz makes it easier for users to buy, store, and spend their cryptocurrency assets. NFT platform Manifold.xyz helps web3 creators like Jay-Z mint their digital art with baked-in smart contracts. Music-focused platform Relics.xyz helps fans to collect and display music collectibles as digital assets, which can be traded or used as utilities in the Metaverse. In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to a platform that is spotlighting collectible trading cards as an alternative asset: Alt.xyz.
Alt.xyz is the online home of Alt, an alternative asset platform for those looking to research, trade, and securely store high-value collectible trading cards. The platform, which can be accessed on desktop or mobile app, originated with a sports card focus but has since expanded to include non-sports collectible cards, such as Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh gaming cards. Alt.xyz launched in March 2021 with $31 million in funding. After four funding rounds, the platform has now raised a total of $306 million.2 Financial backers include early-stage investment fund BoxGroup, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian (who was recently wearing an Alt.xyz branded cap while watching Serena Williams play against Danka Kovinic in the US Open2), and professional athletes like NFL quarterback Tom Brady and NBA forward Kevin Durant.3
The platform features a marketplace for buying and selling trading cards, as well as a safe place to store them. In order to sell a card on Alt.xyz, its condition must first be reviewed and graded by one of the leading third-party trading card authentication and grading groups such as Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) or Beckett Grading Services (BGS). Users then send the card to the Alt.xyz vault, a light-controlled, temperature-controlled, fire-protected facility. Once your card reaches the vault, it is added to your Alt.xyz portfolio. Your card can now be displayed as part of your verified collection, sold on the Alt.xyz exchange, or even borrowed against using the platform’s new lending service called Alt Advance. If you opt to sell your card, ownership can be instantly transferred to the buyer (with Alt.xyz taking a 1.5% portion of each sale). Purchased cards automatically stay in the vault, but owners are able to have their cards pulled from the vault and shipped to them. Many buyers are primarily buying the cards as investments, so they opt to leave the cards in the vault for safekeeping.
Alt.xyz launched Alt Advance in July 2022, which helps collectors borrow up to 40% of their portfolio’s value for up to 12 months at an annual interest rate of 9%-10%. The platform has been rolling out this service on a state-by-state basis because lending regulations vary by region. Alt.xyz hopes to make the service available to all 50 states by the end of 2022.
Founder and CEO Leore Avidar is no stranger to investing or the world of tech startups. He is also the founder and CEO of direct mail platform Lob, and is an angel investor in such startups as performance management platform Lattice and online media platform Curio. Alt.xyz aims to expand into other alternative assets beyond trading cards such as luxury watches and sneaker collections. According to their LinkedIn profile, Alt.xyz envisions a world where anything is an investable asset. Alt previously upgraded their domain from OnlyAlt.com to the more memorable Alt.xyz.

Back in May 2022, we shared a feature about Paramount.xyz and their first NFT project, StarTrek.xyz. In a partnership with web3 studio Recur, Paramount.xyz has begun its mission of bringing the studio’s beloved entertainment characters into the metaverse. Recur is now tapping into other beloved entertainment brands, encouraging multiple generations of fans to buy, collect, and trade NFTs as digital collectibles based on childhood favorites. Nickelodeon.xyz – GoDaddy customer – (United States)
Following the successful launch of StarTrek.xyz, Recur and Paramount.xyz launched their next NFT project: Nickelodeon.xyz. This collection included 10,000 Nickelodeon NFT packs priced at $50 each. Each pack contained a distinctive NFT featuring one of 12 characters from Nickelodeon cartoons Hey Arnold! and Rugrats. Hey Arnold! characters include favorites Arnold Shortman, Helga G. Pataki, and Gerald Johanssen. Rugrats characters include Tommy Pickles, Angelica Pickles, and Chuckie Finster.

Interested buyers can visit Nickelodeon’s Marketplace tab, where the debut collection “Nickelodeon: Rugrats & Hey Arnold!” has generated over 1,700 ETH ($2.9 million) in total volume on leading NFT marketplace OpenSea (as of July 29, 2022).1 On August 2, 2022, Nickelodeon.xyz shared a collection of the statistics from the successful project, including its ranking as the #1 Trending Collection on OpenSea.2 Each unique NFT has a slime score, which ranks it by rarity compared to the rest of the NFTs in the collection. Nickelodeon NFT holders can earn slime by trading in their NFTs. The more slime you hold, the closer you grow to earning the new Mashup NFTs, which combine features of existing characters to create brand new ones. Grammy-nominated DJ and fellow .xyz community member Steve Aoki (a0k1verse.xyz) worked with Recur to introduce the new characters in a new theme song and accompanying music video. CareBears.xyz is the online home of Care Bears Forever, an NFT collection and metaverse experience commemorating the popular Cloudco Entertainment brand’s 40th anniversary. CareBears.xyz is designed as an active and inclusive community platform that encourages members to join together and explore the web3 space.
On August 4, 2022, the platform launched a collection of 10,000 NFTs of the original characters that provide access to the Care Bears Forever game. These iconic characters, who now have a new look for their NFT debut, include: Cheer Bear, Good Luck Bear, Bedtime Bear, Friend Bear, and Tenderheart Bear. The NFT experience is also introducing some never-before-discovered Care Bears, such as Self Care Bear. The Care Bears Forever game involves sharing, and is aptly named Sharing is Caring. Players can head over to the Challenges page to share their Care Bears Forever NFT with another player. In doing so, they will be rewarded with a new gift locked inside a virtual Mystery Chest. HelloKittyFrens.xyz is the online home of Hello Kitty and Friends World, a globe-trotting NFT adventure featuring six Hello Kitty characters who can travel to eight different cities around the world. Hello Kitty and Friends World aims to bring the friendship and community of the beloved characters to the NFT space. Fans can collect Hello Kitty characters and earn new digital collectibles by completing challenges as they virtually travel around the world.
The collection of 10,000 NFTs launched on August 25, 2022. The NFTs serve as a ticket to play the Hello Kitty and Friends World game. As detailed on the How it Works page, players can purchase a suitcase pack from the Marketplace for $100. Each suitcase contains a Sanrio character NFT that will serve as your player. There are six characters in total, including Keroppi, Kuromi, and My Melody. There will be two sets of challenges creating an opportunity to travel to eight different cities around the globe. At each destination you can collect special Stamp NFTs to demonstrate your progress. Stamps can be Premium, Rare, or Ultra-Rare, and if you collect three matching Stamps you can exchange them for a surprise. Stamps can be bought or resold with other players on the marketplace. Beginning in October 2022, players will be able to swap their Stamps for special city Snapshots, which are NFT accessories that can be used to decorate their character NFTs with a fresh look from their travels. Players can always decide it’s time to start using a new character, and can sell their existing NFT included with the city Snapshots they have collected. This way, even if a player isn’t able to visit a certain city themselves, they can always buy a character who has visited that destination and unlocked a Snapshot.
