Forward-thinking developers use .xyz domains to build at the intersection of AI and blockchain technology. AI-driven platform Halliday.xyz develops agentic protocol to streamline multi-chain digital workflows. AI collaboration platform Reppo.xyz aims to streamline data, capital, and infrastructure access for developers. AI-deployment platform Fleek.xyz strives to revolutionize app and AI agent deployment with decentralized infrastructure. In this week’s #AIMonday, we’ll introduce you to a platform designed to reward individuals for contributing private data to AI development—with a goal of keeping that data secure and protected: GetOro.xyz.
GetOro.xyz is the online home of ORO, a decentralized platform designed to let individuals contribute private data to AI development while maintaining control and privacy. ORO addresses a growing need in the AI landscape: access to high-quality private data that can advance intelligence systems beyond current limitations. Rather than letting tech giants harvest personal data without consent, ORO offers an alternative that prioritizes user agency and equitable compensation. In April 2025, ORO announced a $6 million seed round led by a16z crypto and Delphi Ventures, with plans to unlock private data for frontier AI while preserving privacy.1
At its core, ORO aims to help users earn rewards by contributing data through activities like linking social or health accounts and completing in-app quests. Data is stored and processed within a vault using privacy-preserving technologies such as zkTLS cryptography and trusted execution environments (TEEs). These methods aim to ensure personal information remains confidential while still benefiting AI training. On-chain scoring systems track contributions and allocate ORO Points—rewards that eventually translate into token payouts. Through this structure, users remain active participants in AI progress while retaining ownership and control over their information.
ORO was co-founded by “CK,” a graduate of Stanford University who previously worked at Y Combinator. 2While CK maintains a low public profile, they’ve shared insight into the platform’s origins via social media, noting that ORO emerged from a conviction at the Stanford AI Lab that private data would be the bottleneck for AI progress. 3CK and the founding team launched ORO with the belief that data sharing could be private by design and economically rewarding for those behind it. The project is currently being built by a growing team supported by early investors who share this vision.
The choice of .xyz reflects ORO’s forward-thinking approach and alignment with emerging technologies like decentralized networks and artificial intelligence. With its neutral and global appeal, .xyz is a go-to domain extension for innovators seeking to challenge traditional systems. Walrus.xyz – Tracer AI customer – (United States)
Innovative blockchain engineers use .xyz domains to showcase cutting-edge projects. Decentralized network Ika.xyz aims to simplify cross-chain development with programmable infrastructure. Security solutions provider Ackee.xyz strives to enhance blockchain integrity through audits and smart contract development. Blockchain platform Frequency.xyz aims to pioneer decentralized social networks with user-controlled data solutions. In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a decentralized storage system designed to support scalable, verifiable data availability: Walrus.xyz.
Walrus.xyz is the online home of Walrus, a decentralized data storage protocol designed to support high-integrity, verifiable storage with reduced replication overhead. It introduces a custom encoding protocol called “Red Stuff,” intended to enable efficient recovery of lost data and support data verification in asynchronous network environments. Walrus is designed for a range of decentralized use cases, including the storage of NFT assets, application binaries, encrypted datasets, and data needed for blockchain scalability solutions like rollups. In March 2025, Walrus raised $140 million in a token sale ahead of its mainnet launch on March 27, 2025.1
The innovative platform is designed to store large data files—also called blobs—across a distributed network of nodes. Instead of duplicating entire files across multiple nodes, Walrus uses a method called two-dimensional erasure coding. This technique breaks files into smaller parts, making it possible to recover only the missing pieces if part of the file is lost, which reduces overall bandwidth and storage costs. To help verify that nodes are actually storing data, Walrus uses a challenge protocol that does not rely on fixed network timing—helpful in real-world environments where delays and disruptions are common. According to the Walrus white paper, the system uses the Sui blockchain to manage coordination tasks such as staking, registering data for storage, and logging proofs of availability.
Walrus is developed by Mysten Labs, a web3 infrastructure company focused on creating scalable tools and protocols for decentralized applications. According to the company’s website, Mysten Labs is also behind the Sui blockchain, a Layer 1 platform launched in 2023 that supports high-throughput use cases across gaming, finance, and social applications. In addition to Walrus and Sui, Mysten Labs introduced other initiatives such as Enoki, a protocol designed to help businesses improve user experiences. Evan Cheng, listed on LinkedIn as the Co-founder and CEO of Mysten Labs, has contributed to the development of these platforms as part of the company’s broader effort to accelerate decentralized technology adoption.
Walrus.xyz serves as the official website for the platform. The .xyz domain extension offers a broad, flexible naming convention that supports Walrus’s positioning as a decentralized infrastructure project. Its neutrality makes it suitable for projects that are not limited to a specific industry or region, aligning with Walrus’s intent to support a wide range of applications that depend on secure, distributed storage. You can learn more by following the platform on LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and GitHub, joining the Discord, and by visiting Walrus.xyz.
