Blog

In our last post, we mentioned how Team XYZ was everywhere. Whether it’s on your TV, at SXSW in Austin, or in one of the biggest news publications in China, it was hard to miss us.

And to top it all off, did you know we were also at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro?

Representing Team XYZ, Canadian domain investor Ian Clark waived the .xyz flag after conquering Mount Kilimanjaro (the highest peak in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters above sea level – that’s 3.6 miles straight up into the air!) Despite having two metal knees, Ian embraced this challenge to raise money for Water School.

Water School is a non-profit organization that strives to provide simple, safe, strategic, and sustainable clean water solutions to the developing world. Ian’s goal was to raise $5000 (Canadian dollars) so 5 schools will have access to a sustainable clean water supply.

We were so inspired by Ian’s spirit that we donated to his cause, and in return, Ian hiked up Mount Kilimanjaro and proudly represented Team XYZ.

Check out photos and comments from his travel diary below!

Ian takes an .xyz-filled selfie with his guides!

“The Porters (sherpa’s) have a saying called pole-pole (pronounced polee-polee) than means slow-slow, so when you hike, the pace is slow and deliberate. Approximately 30 steps a minute.”

Ian and his leader Joseph pause on the journey to Mount Kilimanjaro

After 5 days of hiking, Ian and his team reach the summit and wave the .xyz flag!

A huge congratulation is in order for Ian and his team. And what’s even more amazing, is that he isn’t stopping here. In July, Ian is set to tackle another mountain, Mount Washington in New Hampshire.

We know it might be tough to keep up with everything .xyz, so why not get updates straight to your inbox? We make sure to send updates that we know you’ll be excited about! Sign-up here for exclusive updates.

Happy Monday, #GenXYZ! For those of you who have been following the news lately, you’ve seen that CEO and Founder Daniel Negari has been blowing up the media with XYZ. From The Telegraph, to the South China Morning Post, and this morning on Fox Business News with Maria Bartiromo, Team XYZ is everywhere!

Fresh from the studios in New York City, catch Daniel’s interview with the host herself, Maria Bartiromo of Opening Bell:

What did you think, #GenXYZ? Keep your eyes and ears open for even more exciting news that’s coming your way soon!

Let’s hear it for the #XYZsquad! For the second year in a row, the purple people were a major hit with South By Southwest (aka SXSW) attendees. From Graffiti Park to Downtown Austin, the #XYZsquad parkoured across the city during one of the largest conferences that attracts 72,000+ attendees each year from all over the world.

Back-flipping, forward-flipping, photo-taking, and sticker-giving, they covered a lot of ground while explosively (and awesomely) spreading the message that .xyz is for every website, everywhere.

We have tons of footage that we can’t wait to share with you all. While we’re putting our final magical touches on the videos, here’s a sneak-peek at what went down on the streets of Austin:

Were you at SXSW? If you were lucky and caught a glimpse of the #XYZsquad, tell us about it! Tweet us @XYZ, tag us on Instagram, or drop us a line on Facebook. Until next time, #GenXYZ!

Because it’s here! We’re ecstatic to welcome the first addition to our XYZ family, .College. We know many of you have been looking forward to this day, #GenXYZ, and we’re excited to finally bring the new domain and platform for people and organizations of all types to come together for a common purpose.

For a limited time, trademark holders and educational institutions will have priority access to register their .College domains for free. You heard right. For FREE!

Why are we awarding .College domains at no-cost, you might ask? That’s because, as the registry operator behind the largest new domain extension, .xyz, and CEO and Founder Daniel Negari’s innovative vision, our mission is to encourage active usage of new domains by making them easily accessible. It also represents our commitment to protecting brands and building a reputable namespace for all of our domains.

Are you a trademark holder?

Starting today until April 17, trademark holders can secure their exact-match .College domains for free on a first-come, first-served basis before it becomes available to the general public.

Brands can leverage .College domains as:

  • recruitment portals on domains like NYCinternships.College or TechJobs.College
  • training and development sites such as LeadershipTraining.College and TeamBuilding.College
  • a strong marketing tool showcasing product articles, how-to’s, best practices, and testimonials on domains like CookingTips.College and SafeDriving.College

Then beginning on April 20, eligible educational institutions will have the chance to redeem an unlimited number of free .College domains.

There’s so much to .College that we can’t wait to see all the creative sites that will go live, #GenXYZ!
