The .xyz community is home to innovative platforms leveraging blockchain technology to drive creativity, transparency, and efficiency. Web3 platform Galaxis.xyz is reshaping community management and digital collectibles. NFT platform Fair.xyz aims to help creators launch large NFT collections in minutes. Web3 platform Bonfire.xyz wants to revolutionize creator engagement and digital ownership. In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a platform reimagining storytelling and decentralized creativity: Sup.xyz.

Sup.xyz: A visionary studio shaping the future of fictional worlds

Sup.xyz is the online home of Sup, a startup dedicated to building the fictional worlds of the future. The startup is co-founded by Dom Hofmann, creator of the popular short-form video platform Vine, and Chris Supino, a veteran game producer behind the Just Cause video game franchise. Together, they experiment with new technologies to craft unique settings, characters, and experiences. In February 2022, Sup secured $12 million in seed funding led by Paradigm, fueling their ambitious creative endeavors.1

Blitmap: A decentralized sci-fi universe expanding into comics

A central project by Sup is Blitmap, a decentralized science fiction universe built on Ethereum. Blitmap helps NFT holders actively shape the narrative, deciding key story elements like factions and characters. The open-source nature of the project encourages collaboration, enabling participants to create merchandise, games, and other contributions using Blitmap’s intellectual property. This community-driven approach is redefining how stories and fictional universes are built, with engagement at its core.

In 2023, Blitmap expanded into comics, releasing the first issue of its sci-fi series, Fragments of the Machine, at New York Comic-Con that October. Set in the sprawling solarpunk metropolis of Caelum, the series delves into the aftermath of an ancient cataclysm, chronicling the power struggles between rival factions—the Blitnauts, technologically enhanced scavengers, and the Logos, a group of elite citizens with their own hidden agenda. Readers are introduced to compelling characters like Cici, a Blitnaut grappling with a mysterious data retrieval mission, and Liz, a curious Logo eager for adventure. The story also explores the enigmatic realm of “The Static,” a dangerous space that ensnares and corrupts those who enter.

The comic’s innovative design stands out with its unique, one-of-a-kind collector’s item covers, created using Sup’s patent-pending “Hyperpress” technology. This process ensures that no two copies are identical, making every cover a personalized piece of art. Each issue is packaged in a foil blind bag, adding an element of surprise and intrigue for readers when they unwrap their copy. The project exemplifies Blitmap’s open-source ethos, inviting fans and creators to contribute to its universe through merchandise, games, and other artistic endeavors.

Curated by Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based creative Ryan Gilbert, the platform publishes a weekly newsletter every Saturday, sharing newly featured workspaces from other creative professionals, including designers, developers, and entrepreneurs. The idea for Workspaces emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic as remote work became widespread. Ryan observed an increase in social media posts showcasing home desk setups. This trend inspired him to create Workspaces as a way to collect and share these setups with others. In January 2022, it gained recognition on Product Hunt, where it was highlighted as the “#1 Side Project Product of the Year.”1

As stated on Workspaces.xyz, the platform has over 14,000 subscribers and has featured more than 450 workspaces since its launch on April 5, 2020. Workspaces.xyz provides several resources for its community:

  • Weekly newsletters: Enter your email to subscribe, and receive new editions every Saturday featuring creative and functional workspaces. Each newsletter explores the stories, tools, and setups of the individuals featured.
  • Past Issues: Workspaces.xyz includes an archive of all past newsletters, enabling visitors to browse previously featured setups.
  • Desk Setup Trends: Workspaces highlights trends in workspace design, including ergonomic improvements and personalization ideas.

  • Hardware highlights: A 27” 1440p display, Logitech G715 wireless keyboard, SteelSeries Aerox 3 mouse, and an OMEN PC with 32GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, and RTX 3060 GPU. He also uses a 13” MacBook Pro, iPad mini, and AirPods Pro (2nd generation).
  • Design aesthetics: Richard favors a clean, cohesive look, featuring white peripherals like his keyboard, mouse, and Xbox controller.
  • Work-life balance: He wraps up work by 5 PM, maintaining a clear boundary between professional and personal time.
  • Creativity boosters: Morning walks or runs kickstart his day, while engaging with creative minds on social media keeps the inspiration flowing.

Richard’s setup is a testament to balancing productivity and personal flair, demonstrating how thoughtful design and intentional habits can create a truly inspiring workspace.

2. Shane Levine – Founder and Product Designer from Brooklyn, NY
Shane’s workspace showcases his passion for design and creativity, combining practicality with a touch of personal style.

  • Hardware highlights: Shane relies on an LG UltraFine 27” display, a MacBook Pro, and Apple Keyboard and Trackpad for his design work. His setup also includes an Autonomous Eureka Standing Desk, an ergonomic chair, and accessories like AirPods Max and a Lamicall aluminum stand.
  • Design aesthetics: His workspace features a mix of modern elements, including an Eames-style chair in a bold color, a Lego Porsche, and a Chinatown Market basketball, adding personality to the clean and functional setup.
  • Daily routine: Shane spends his mornings collaborating with his design team and meeting clients. After lunch in Brooklyn with his girlfriend, he dives into focused design work in the afternoons.
  • Creativity boosters: Shane stays inspired by curating designs he admires on Pinterest and engaging with design communities. These practices help him refine his aesthetic and stay connected to industry trends.

Shane’s workspace is a reflection of his design philosophy—functional, inspiring, and infused with character—making it a space where creativity thrives.

Meet Founder Ryan Gilbert

Ryan Gilbert founded Workspaces in 2020 and has guided its growth ever since. In 2022, he sold Workspaces to email marketing platform Loops and joined their team as Head of Content, where he led content strategy and development. In May 2024, Ryan re-acquired Workspaces to continue its mission under his leadership. Before his role at Loops, Ryan supported creators and innovators as a Community Support Manager at Product Hunt. He also developed engaging content strategies during his contract work with AI-focused tech company Heyday (later acquired by mental health and coaching startup BetterUp).

Workspaces.xyz: Showcasing creativity with a modern online presence

Workspaces.xyz provides a platform for exploring how people design and use their workspaces. The platform’s .xyz domain aligns with its goals of inclusivity and innovation. Known for its versatility, .xyz supports Workspaces’ mission to present creative setups from diverse professionals while maintaining a modern and approachable online presence. A key advantage of selecting a .xyz domain is its modern appeal, which often means wider availability of matching social media handles. This availability helps Workspaces.xyz use @workspacesxyz as a brand-consistent handle for social media. We had the opportunity to speak with Ryan about his decision to build Workspaces on .xyz. As he told us,

“.XYZ was a no-brainer when choosing a domain for my newsletter that catered to a tech-focused audience. It stands out. It’s easy to remember. And despite possible misconceptions, it still ranks well and is a better option than tacking on a random filler word before your actual brand to secure the .com.”

OpenLayer.xyzGoDaddy customer – (United States

Developers leverage .xyz domains to innovate at the forefront of AI and crypto technology. AI-powered platform OpenEXA.xyz helps fund managers turn non-yielding assets into high-yield investments. Digital platform CaptureApp.xyz harnesses AI and blockchain technology for asset management. Crypto startup CryptoPond.xyz powers decentralized AI innovation for blockchain applications. In this week’s #AIMonday, we’ll introduce you to a platform designed to modernize data flows and empower developers with AI-driven data validation and secure proofs: OpenLayer.xyz.

OpenLayer.xyz: Pioneering crypto-AI innovation for modern data flows

OpenLayer.xyz is the online home of OpenLayer, a crypto-AI startup co-founded in 2023 by Yuchen Jiang, Kevin Yin, and Chen Chen. The three founders previously worked at Robinhood, a financial technology company recognized for its commission-free trading platform. Each co-founder also brings valuable experience from notable tech companies—Chen served as a software engineer at Google, Yuchen as a software engineer at Facebook, and Kevin as a product manager at Dropbox. The platform functions as a modular AI data layer designed to modernize data flows across digital ecosystems. OpenLayer aims to help users contribute and validate data through a Chrome extension, with developers accessing this data upon user consent. In November 2024, OpenLayer raised $5 million in seed funding from investors including a16z Crypto Startup Accelerator (CSX), Geometry Ventures, and others.1

Enhancing data authenticity with OpenLayer.xyz and AI technology

The startup focuses on improving the authenticity and accessibility of data across traditional and web3 platforms. It uses artificial intelligence to enable secure data proofs, which can validate achievements, train AI models, and enhance user targeting. OpenLayer is also integrated with EigenLayer.xyz, a protocol on the Ethereum blockchain that boosts the economic security of its services. Its network includes over $10 billion in restaked ether and 48,575 participants, supporting decentralized applications in areas like social networking, gaming, and AI.

To maintain data integrity while protecting user privacy, OpenLayer uses advanced cryptographic methods, including three-party TLS protocols and decentralized notary servers. Key features such as selective data sharing, secure execution environments, and measures to prevent collusion are designed to reduce security risks and build trust in the system.

The evolution to OpenLayer.xyz

OpenLayer upgraded their domain from openlayer.tech to the versatile OpenLayer.xyz. The choice reflects the startup’s alignment with the .xyz domain’s reputation as a hub for innovation. .XYZ is widely adopted by AI and crypto-focused projects, offering flexibility, memorability, and a future-ready identity for trailblazers in these fields. OpenLayer.xyz serves as a streamlined and globally accessible digital home, enhancing the company’s ability to engage with diverse audiences across industries.
