Venture capitalist and influencer Kevin Rose’s NFT-focused podcast Proof.xyz led to the development of his members-only NFT collective Collective.Proof.xyz. In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to Paramount Global’s first NFT-focused metaverse experience: StarTrek.xyz.
StarTrek.xyz is the online home of Star Trek Continuum, Paramount’s experiential NFT marketplace for the first and all future releases of Star Trek NFT launches. Paramount first partnered with Web3 studio Recur to create Paramount.xyz, a platform aimed to bring the studio’s beloved entertainment entities, brands, and characters to the metaverse. Fans will be able to buy, collect, and trade Recur NFTs as digital collectibles across Paramount’s leading portfolio of brands, including Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, BET, CBS, Showtime, and more. StarTrek.xyz is the first franchise to launch, and includes algorithmically-generated starships from NFT collections known as the Admiral pack and the Captain pack, both of which contain Constitution class starships. Future releases, known as seasons, will involve collecting crewmates and performing missions.
The debut of Star Trek Continuum NFTs, named Season 0, launched on April 9, 2022. The 5,000 starships in the Admiral Pack sold out in just a few minutes. Starships from the Captain Pack sold out shortly after. All 20,000 Star Trek spaceship NFTs sold for $250 each. Continuum NFT holders will gain access to exclusive perks, events, and the expanding content available to the NFTs digitally and in-real life. Fans who weren’t able to get one of the coveted Star Trek Continuum NFTs can visit a secondary market on NFT marketplace OpenSea to find a collection of spaceships there.
StarTrek.xyz features a roadmap indicating that this is just the beginning of the NFT franchise. The following collection, Season 01, is due later this year. Fans will be able to collect crew and go on voyages around the galaxy to seek out new planets and earn rewards. Those NFTs are intended to feature characters across the Star Trek universe. Season 0 starship owners will be rewarded with a crew airdrop leading into Season 01, and in Season 02 and 03, fans will be able to use their crew to go on missions in a play-to-earn game.
Paramount.xyz shares that a Nickelodeon Season Zero NFT project is coming soon. Fans will be able to build community, engage with peers, and unlock new, innovative, and interactive experiences. In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to an innovative communication platform aimed to foster chatting between Web3 friends: NftyChat.xyz.
NftyChat.xyz is a Web3 platform that raised $1 million in funding to launch the public beta of their new Web3 chat platform. The investment was led by Japanese venture capital firm Archetype Ventures, with additional participation from blockchain startup-focused Coinbase Ventures. NftyChat.xyz helps Ethereum Name Service (ENS) profile holders connect and chat with each other using their .eth names or .xyz domains claimed in ENS. The service is free, and does not require a password. To start chatting, you just need to connect your MetaMask, Coinbase, or WalletConnect crypto wallet.
A unique feature of the chat platform is that there is no need to create a username. You have to be equipped with your own, specifically from ENS. This way, the platform can ensure that your username will always be 100% decentralized. Once your wallet is connected, NftyChat.xyz offers a clean and intuitive user experience. A helpful FAQ is available for answers to common usage questions as well as a bulletin board for important announcements and updates. You can choose from a growing list of various channels and chat rooms such as “early supporters,” and “suggestions,” to begin chatting with new friends. Like many social networking platforms, there is an inbox for direct messaging capability. If there’s an ENS user you’d like to connect with, you can search for them by their .eth name. You can even attach a Twitter feed to your profile so you can still follow the action while chatting. And since your profile is based on your ENS profile, it automatically populates and showcases your NFTs and POAPs – a feature it has in common with eth.xyz.
Nftychat.xyz was co-founded by finance professional Alex Slobodnik, who also serves as CEO. As detailed on the NftyChat.xyz homage, Alex registered a .eth name from ENS in the summer of 2021. Slobo.eth became his Web3 identity, yet there was no place to chat as “slobo.eth.” This inspired him to create NftyChat.xyz. As Alex explained to us, “.xyz felt new and fresh, just like web3.”

The innovative platform was developed by former Pandora Product Manager David Greenstein, Web3 programmer and DJ Matt Masurka, and former Apple Software engineer Vignesh Hirudayakanth. Having worked for major tech companies, they would understand the need for accessible technology, and a domain name that passes the radio test is easier to access for audience members using voice-assistive technology.
Sound.xyz’s first tool, Listening Party, was released in early December 2021 to great praise from the platform’s inaugural artists. After launch, Sound.xyz featured a Listening Party for each of seven songs from independent artists on the platform. Fingerspelling.xyz is a creative and engaging resource created by non-profit organization American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) to help families of deaf and hard of hearing children learn American Sign Language (ASL). They are employing the use of a keyword in their domain name that is commonly used to research sign language online. As of April 2022, SEMRush reports that website advertisers are paying an average of $2.13 per click to be visible for the keyword “fingerspelling.” Fingerspelling.xyz organically is getting 1,900 monthly visits organically purely from the keyword “fingerspelling,” which is worth $4,047 per month that they don’t need to pay for to get traffic.
ASDC worked with creative studio Hello Monday to build the innovative and educational website that teaches fingerspelling, and it is gaining increased attention. Organizations praise the website for its design and innovation. England’s FWA, whose mission is to “showcase cutting edge creativity, regardless of the medium or technology used” named Fingerspelling.xyz their “FWA of the month” in May 2021. That same month, global web design organization Awwwards named Fingerspelling.xyz their site of the day. Since keyword domains are common terms, they usually pass the radio test, which is also necessary for accessibility.

The company, which has a net worth of $89.72 billion3, officially rebranded on December 10, 2021 to acknowledge their growth beyond their Square product, and to signal their intention to continue expanding their roster of products and services, including Spiral.xyz, aimed at making Bitcoin the planet’s preferred currency.
“Block” is a five letter memorable word that is closely associated with the word “square.” Block launched a press campaign to inform the world of their new change, and this news was reported in video and audio broadcast by major networks like CNBC and ABC News. Short domains can appear more exclusive, and historically have been incredibly expensive to obtain. Paired with a major company, Block.xyz is immediately trusted by an audience.
After their announcement, Square released a thread of Tweets sharing the news about the parent company’s name change, and included their inspiration behind the name Block: “Block references the neighborhood blocks where we find our sellers, a blockchain, block parties full of music, obstacles to overcome, a section of code, building blocks, and of course, tungsten cubes.” It is easy to get to their website, because the short nature of their domain makes it easy to type without accidentally introducing typos or misspellings.

BCL.xyz – GoDaddy customer – (United States)
Many innovative blockchain-focused businesses are establishing their online homes on .xyz domains. NFT studio and Web3 platform Mojito.xyz designs and operates Ethereum-compatible NFT marketplaces, games, and communities. Venture capital firm Paradigm.xyz invests in crypto and Web3 projects. Recently rebranded Block.xyz develops popular financial services including leading credit card reader Square. This week’s #WebsiteWednesday features FOX Entertainment’s new NFT studio aimed to empower creators and brands as they make their way into the Web3 landscape: BCL.xyz.
BCL.xyz is the online home of FOX Entertainment’s new NFT-focused Web3 studio Blockchain Creative Labs. FOX Entertainment and their animation studio Bento Box Entertainment created the Los Angeles-based studio to provide content creators, Intellectual Property owners, and advertising partners with tools and solutions to build, launch, manage, and market NFT-related content and experiences. In June 2021, FOX and Bento Box formed a $100 million creator fund that will be managed by Blockchain Creative Labs to identify growth opportunities in the NFT space. Later that summer, in August 2021, FOX also invested in blockchain content monetization platform Eluvio. As part of the investment, which was valued at $100 million, Eluvio provides the underlying technology powering BCL.xyz’s innovative projects.

The studio has already developed unique, NFT-focused projects. In March 2022, BCL.xyz partnered with singer-songwriter, actress, and businesswoman Dolly Parton to launch “Dollyverse,” an audience-focused Web3 experience that debuted at Austin-based film and music festival South by Southwest (SXSW). “Dollyverse” includes a collection of official and certified Dolly NFT collectibles for purchase during and after SXSW.
Fans at Dolly Parton’s SXSW performance had access to claim a free POAP NFT badge. POAP is an easy proof-of-attendance protocol developed by fellow .xyz community member POAP.xyz. Attendees simply scanned Dolly’s QR code during the event, and were rewarded with a free NFT linking either to a commemorative poster or a copy of the new album. Eluvio live-streamed her performance on “Dollyverse,” and fans that streamed the event also received POAPs authenticating their participation. Attendees created a crypto wallet and connected it to the SXSW x BCL Marketplace at SXSW.BCL.xyz.
The response to “Dollyverse” at SXSW was immense. On Friday, March 25, 2022, the festival awarded Dolly Parton with the Grulke Prize for Career Act, an honor for an established artist who appeared at SXSW to launch an important new project.
In May 2021, Fox shared that BCL.xyz will launch a dedicated digital marketplace powered by Eluvio for the upcoming animated comedy titled “Krapopolis,” which will be the first animated series to be curated entirely on the blockchain. Created by Dan Harmon, who also created the comedy series “Community” and “Rick and Morty,” the new series is set in mythical ancient Greece and centers on a flawed family of humans, gods, and monsters. Viewers will have opportunities to access NFTs of one-of-a-kind characters and background art, and tokens that provide exclusive social experiences to engage and reward superfans.

The increased popularity of remote operations has encouraged many organizations to rethink their ways of doing business. As more and more companies provide their employees with the freedom to work from home, they may face challenges in the remote recruitment process of new candidates. The .xyz community is home to many tech startups that have recognized emerging obstacles and used innovation and forward-thinking to develop digital solutions to overcome them. In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday we’ll introduce you to a member of the .xyz community whose next-generation domain is a fitting choice to promote their next-generation recruitment tool: Questy.xyz.
Questy.xyz provides a digital talent measurement solution that aims to automate recruitment workflow, assess candidates’ skills, and map a complete employee development lifecycle. Questy.xyz CEO Chintan Shah recently celebrated his 11th anniversary with parent company Promact Infotch, where his journey originally began as a Junior Software Developer. In August of 2019, while working as a Product Manager for the India-based software development company, Chintan co-founded a new branch of the company called Questy Solutions. Questy Solutions would later develop Questy.xyz. Chintan is now the CEO of Questy Solutions, as well as the Chief Marketing Officer of Promact.
Questy.xyz offers a feature specific to remote hiring called the “Interviewee Only Test.” Organizations can use this feature to develop their interview questions and then share a link which contains the interview and a recording feature with each of their candidates. Recorded responses can then be shared with all necessary members of the hiring organization for proper review. Questy.xyz claims this process has benefits to the hiring organization as well as to the candidates. For the organization, the “Interviewee Only Test” can reduce scheduling conflicts and enhance collaborative hiring. For the candidates, the feature’s process can create a less intimidating interview experience. This may be especially helpful for recent college graduates new to the interview experience. A0k1verse.xyz is the online home of a new NFT-driven membership community created by Grammy-nominated DJ Steve Aoki. Members of a0k1verse.xyz, otherwise known as citizens, can gather assorted perks, such as exclusive access to live and virtual concerts. To join, you can use Ethereum-based crypto tokens known as A0K1 Credits to redeem the A0K1VERSE Passport NFT, which serves as your personal admission ticket to the community. A0k1verse.xyz and the A0K1VERSE Passport NFT were created in collaboration with smart contract startup Manifold.xyz, which provides creators with a means to mint NFTs embedded with smart contract technology. In the summer of 2021, Steve announced his involvement with Manifold.xyz in a series of Tweets about a project called Dominion X. Steve collaborated with Stoopid Buddy Stoodios to present Dominion X, the first episodic series to launch on the blockchain1. Dominion X was minted from a custom smart contract via Manifold.xyz with unique interactive qualities directly within the NFT.

While March is Women’s History Month, we celebrate women all year round as part of our mission to help the next generation of internet users get online. As long-time supporters of Indonesia-based non-profit organization Generation Girl, we share their interest in inspiring young women to become leaders in the historically male-dominated STEM fields and appreciate the opportunity to provide .xyz domains to help further education in tech for woman-identified developers and website owners. We regularly highlight awesome women-led websites that demonstrate the true versatility of memorable .xyz domains. For example, climate activist and researcher Clover Hogan established her non-profit organization’s online home on ForceofNature.xyz to help fellow young people realize their change-making potential in the face of climate change. TheHug.xyz is the online home of HUG, a community platform designed to embrace and empower all Web3 creators. Facebook Live creator Randi Zuckerberg and venture capital firm M13 founder Debbie Soon agreed that for marginalized groups like women, non-native English speakers, BIPOC, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, and LGBTQ+ folks, launching a new Web3 project can be challenging. Randi and Debbie also share an interest in embracing, advising, mentoring, and empowering aspiring Web3 creators. Austria-based Aleyda Rocha uses AleydaRocha.xyz to demonstrate her work as a researcher and artist. In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to an accomplished tech entrepreneur and investor who developed his online hub on a retro-styled website with a memorable FirstName.xyz domain: Ryan.xyz.
Ryan.xyz is the personal website of spiritual-minded tech entrepreneur Ryan Junee. Ryan has a passion for technology startups and spent over 15 years developing and launching innovative ideas. He co-founded six companies including enterprise software company Parsable, digital health platform RxDefine, and online video platform Omnisio, which he later sold to Google. Ryan is also an active investor, and is currently a managing partner at Los Angeles-based seed-stage technology venture capital firm, ElectricAnt.xyz.
