In 2022, .xyz’s popularity among web3 developers continued to grow, so we launched a new blog series titled #BlockchainThursday to complement #WebsiteWednesday. Every Thursday we now share a #BlockchainThursday feature about a forward-thinking member of .xyz’s blockchain community. Here’s a look at the innovative websites we’ve shared in 2022:
Last December, we launched eth.xyz, a service we developed to help ENS users share what they want to the world. With eth.xyz, all .eth name holders can display their ENS profiles in all web browsers. 2022 saw over 3 million visits to eth.xyz profiles!
To use the eth.xyz shortlink , just add “.xyz” to the end of any .eth name in any web browser and the corresponding ENS profile will display. The profile content is automatically populated from publicly available information provided through ENS, and is ultimately controlled by the relevant ENS user.
XYZ helped support participants at over 200 hackathons in 2022! Inspired and motivated coders received .xyz domains to help encourage them to develop their creative ideas online. Hackathons were held throughout the world and virtually, allowing for more participants than ever.
In 2022, the XYZ Registry’s no-tolerance policy for abuse in our zones was recognized by Spamhaus, the leading authority on IP and domain reputation data. In collaboration with XYZ, Spamhaus published a 3-part series of blog posts regarding domain abuse, combating bad actors, and best practices when emailing from a new domain. Here’s a rundown:

Wolf.Game – Dynadot customer – (United States)
Web3 developers are using .xyz and XYZ Registry domains like .Game, .Monster, and .Quest, to build imaginative blockchain-based games. NFT artist and game developer Daniil Dolia’s DoliaCats.xyz provides Dolia Cat NFT holders access to the Meowverse, a community that incorporates games, a decentralized finance platform, and more. Ethereum-based exploration game Sipher.xyz is centered around customizable NFT characters within a vast online universe. Adventure game HelloKittyFrens.xyz is a globe-trotting NFT adventure featuring six Hello Kitty characters who can travel to eight different cities around the world. In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a strategic NFT game centered around sheep and wolves: Wolf.Game.
Wolf.Game is the online home of Wolf Game, a “Play-to-Earn” (P2E) NFT game designed to look like a vintage 8-bit video game. A P2E game means that players have the opportunity to earn real-world assets while playing. Wolf.Game players use sheep and wolf-themed NFTs to compete for $WOOL, the platform’s cryptocurrency. The developer of Wolf.Game has combined DeFi and NFT mechanics to provide players with the opportunity to earn crypto while they play. The website warns players that the game has high stakes, and that your “successes and failures shall be defined by the choices you make.” Interested players can connect their MetaMask crypto wallet, load it with ETH, and then head to NFT marketplace OpenSea to invest in the game’s sheep and wolf-themed NFTs. In the game, sheep NFTs can help you earn $WOOL tokens, which allow you to mint new sheep or wolf NFTs. This generates more $WOOL, and so on. Players can use wolf NFTs to steal other players’ sheep and $WOOL. You can opt to cash out by swapping $WOOL on Uniswap, or by reselling your NFTs on OpenSea. You can also use your crypto to purchase Wolf Game merch, including socks, hats, and hoodies featuring the game’s wolves and sheep characters.
Wolf.Game gained attention when Resy co-founder and VaynerMedia CEO Gary Vaynerchuk (AKA Gary Vee) tweeted his curiosity about the game in December 2021. He posted “Wolf game huh? #nft,” and his tweet garnered over 3,800 likes.1
The anonymous platform founder hasn’t publicly revealed their identity. They maintain a mysterious presence by signing each communication in the game or on social media as “The Shepherd.” We are inspired by The Shepherd’s innovation and look forward to more imaginative developments. Michael graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Fine Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2018. At the end of that year, he moved to Tokyo and began showing work in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles. Michael designed MichaelHo.xyz to be easy to explore with a simple and informative website design. Visitors can easily navigate to each page, which can help make Michael’s information easy to find. Prospective buyers and curators can easily visit Michael’s Selected Artwork, CV, and his Bio pages to get a strong understanding of Michael and his art. MichaelHo.xyz features a slideshow of his unique, text-based artwork on his homepage. For a more detailed experience, you can visit the Selected Artwork page to see each art piece with a full description, such as a work titled Good Enough. This work is made of enamel, acrylic, ink transfers, spray paint and resin on canvas and stands over 4 feet tall. It is a black and white oblong structure that has been spray painted with the words “GOOD ENOUGH” in bright orange. With Michael’s inclusion of his CV page, potential collaborators, galleries, and clients can gain a full understanding of Michael’s talent, background, and experience.

Sarah Tracey is a certified sommelier who has shared wine advice for MarthaStewart.com.1 Her website includes a dedicated blog page featuring resourceful and informative posts like 3 Invaluable Tips for Wine Gifts, From a Sommelier and 4 Unexpected Ways to Pair Sauternes Like a Pro. Each blog post shares more of Sarah’s insights and can encourage visitors to return often to continue learning. Sarah shares blog posts fairly regularly, as often as once a week. She also regularly uses her Instagram account to post inviting content for over 20K followers, including 12 days of cocktail recipes leading up to Christmas, and guides her followers over to her website. She links her bio to TheLushLife.xyz, which serves as her permanent online hub for her online identity and her blog content.
Blogs are websites or parts of websites that are actively and routinely updated with articles, which can demonstrate that you value your visitors and can foster a positive association with your website.
A business website is a website that is committed to representing a particular business or corporation. Many businesses, whether big, small, established, or brand new, have a business website and an online presence. Many potential clients may expect that if they look up your business online in search of more information, they will find your business’s website. Dragonfly.xyz is an example of a business website that promotes their services, conveys their messaging, and demonstrates authenticity. The San Francisco-based crypto investment firm backs teams building generational companies designed to exist for decades and products in crypto across sectors and stages. Their website says they particularly enjoy backing teams working on “something weird” and pushing the boundaries of the industry. Dragonfly.xyz introduced their hacker-inspired website at the same time as they announced their newly rebranded name and logo in an effort to signal a global presence and deep technical expertise. In a post shared on the firm’s Medium profile, managing Partner Haseeb Qureshi provided information about Dragonfly.xyz’s messaging and values. “We’re dropping the ‘Capital’ from our name, and our new look is more crypto-native, inspired by the hackers and weirdos (we say with love!) who have built this industry from the ground up. Our aesthetic is less Patagonia, more ASCII; less stock photo, more glitch art.” Dragonfly.xyz includes company information and resources to help demonstrate their authenticity and legitimacy. There is a section devoted to their successful investment portfolio, and an opportunity for visitors to learn all about the members of the Dragonfly.xyz team. You can hover over each team member’s animated portrait, including CFO Sylvia Liu and Controller Stephen Li, to show their bio and learn more about them. This look inside the firm and at their investment portfolio can help them convey an image of being a professional and reputable business.

A well-designed eCommerce website can seamlessly guide customers through the process of making a purchase, and help them feel as if they are seeing the products in person in your shop. You can include product photos, detailed specifications, and interesting details to help your customer feel as informed as possible without being able to see the product in person.
TIP: Consider how to set your products apart from the competition. If you are as descriptive as possible, your customer may gain the best understanding of what they are buying.

Shibuya.xyz – GoDaddy customer – (United States)
Web3-focused developers are using .xyz domains to disrupt industries with innovative platforms that harness the power of blockchain technology. Crypto music publishing platform Sound.xyz aims to disrupt the music industry by helping recording artists gain more of their music’s value by turning songs into collectible NFTs. Forbes-featured artist Brandon Tory’s Formless.xyz leverages blockchain technology to change the way music and other digital content is valued and distributed. Venture fund CoopRecords.xyz strives to invest in artists and startup founders who are uniting web3 and music. In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a web3 video platform backed by Paris Hilton that aims to disrupt the Hollywood studio system of film distribution: Shibuya.xyz.
Shibuya.xyz is the online home of Shibuya, a blockchain-based film platform from notable NFT artist Emily Yang, more commonly known as Pplpleasr. The platform is designed to help creators crowdfund the production of long-form visual content, including short films, movies, and television series, by selling Producer Pass NFTs inspired by movie ticket stubs. Pplpleasr first gained mainstream notoriety after her NFT artwork helped Fortune magazine raise nearly $1.3 million in its first-ever NFT auction.1 On December 8, 2022, Shibuya.xyz shared in a tweet the news of a $6.9M fundraising round led by the a16z Crypto division of technology venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and celebrity investors such as Paris Hilton and NBA athlete Kevin Durant.2
The innovative platform’s first project is an anime short film titled “White Rabbit,” which Pplpleasr co-directed with fellow visual artist Maciej Kuciara, depicts the adventures of Mirai, a young heroine navigating a world set in a future where computing advances have compromised the blockchain. Mirai’s mission is to protect the blockchain. The film is being released in installments of three to five minutes. As of December 13 2022, Shibuya.xyz has shared the first 2 chapters of the film. Viewers who purchased Producer Pass NFTs were able to vote on one of two alternate endings to the first episode. The winning option determined the main character’s plot line in the following episode.3
Shibuya.xyz is designed to be a disruptive option for creators to avoid the necessity of relying on film industry power brokers. Films like “White Rabbit” are intended as a proof of concept. Shibuya.xyz hopes to eventually invite other filmmakers and other types of artists onto the platform to finance and distribute their projects with the support of fans rather than the Hollywood studio system. As Pplpleasr explained in the press, “If I was to go about this traditionally, I’d need to get Hollywood contacts. Now, I don’t need to wait for anyone to say yes.”4

They even have a video that highlights the purpose of the guide. For students, ForceofNature.xyz offers programming intended to foster change by uncovering their interests as aspiring activists and clarify what they need to be effective as change-makers.

The product description explains that this compact scale is ideal for checking and preparing espresso, and is enriched with a coffee flow control function that can make it easier for you to monitor the coffee flow in real time. Black.xyz’s description is optimized with the inclusion of a simplified list of properties as well as a 90-second video highlighting the scale’s attractiveness and ease of use.

MemoryGardens.xyz – Cloudflare customer – (United States)
The .xyz community is home to forward-thinking innovators making creative use of blockchain technology. Ethereum-based exploration game Sipher.xyz is centered around customizable NFT characters within a vast online universe. Music-focused platform Relics.xyz helps fans to collect and display music collectibles as digital assets. DAO-governed Universe.xyz helps artists mint NFTs and launch community-driven NFT universes. In this week’s #WebsiteWednesday, we’ll introduce you to a web3 platform that aims to help you store, own, and relive your memories using blockchain technology: MemoryGardens.xyz.
MemoryGardens.xyz is the online home of Memory Gardens, a blockchain-based platform for the storage and display of digital memories. The platform is designed to help you secure your memories for 200 years using Arweave, a Decentralized Storage Network (DSN). You can revisit your minted memories using a VR headset, mobile device, or computer. In August 2022, MemoryGardens.xyz was selected for Newchip’s Seed-Stage Global Accelerator Program. This fully digital program is designed to provide the skills and tools needed by seed-stage founders in order to rapidly fund, build, and scale their companies. Newchip has helped over 1,500 founders to raise over $450 million in funding with an estimated portfolio of over $9 billion.1
The metaverse-based gallery features customizable virtual spaces known as “capsules” that help you to save and revisit pictures, videos, and audio clips from your life’s best moments. MemoryGardens.xyz helps you to create unique capsules of your own design. You can create a living room scene, complete with a decorated Christmas tree, working fireplace, couches, and picture frames adorning the walls that feature your NFT memories. You may choose a virtual banquet hall to commemorate the memories of your wedding day, a virtual gallery space to exhibit your child’s artwork, or specially designed memorial spaces to appropriately honor your departed loved ones. Visit the Marketplace to purchase upgraded gallery spaces for your capsule, like the Night Sky Gallery, which includes additional slots for pictures and videos.
Once you have customized your capsule, you can then mint it as an NFT. The individual media files saved within your capsule will also be uploaded as NFTs. Capsule owners are the only ones with the ability to modify the contents of a capsule. When you mint your capsule, it becomes an immutable block of information on the blockchain that cannot be changed or modified. MemoryGardens.xyz uses NFT technology, but claims that you don’t need to be fluent in web3 or crypto to use the platform. The platform’s technology creates your crypto wallet for you. Assets can be purchased with crypto or a credit card. MemoryGardens.xyz can then use your wallet to store the tokens that are needed for minting. There are more advanced ownership options available through popular crypto wallet Metamask for those more familiar with web3. You can connect your Metamask wallet to your MemoryGardens.xyz account and pay using cryptocurrency instead of a debit or credit card. Your capsule can then be stored as an NFT on your Metamask wallet.
MemoryGardens.xyz is founded by web3 and IT professional Ben Peeri. Ben has a background in building and securing Fortune 500 enterprise solutions, with roles including DevOps Tech Lead at crypto lending platform Maple Finance, Technical Team Lead at security software company Check Point Software Technologies, and Systems Administrator for asset management company Hudson Advisors. Ben has industry certifications from key vendors in the IT and network industries such as firewall vendors Palo Alto Networks and Cloud infrastructure providers VMWare and Microsoft.
